In vaguely heart-related news, the fanfic I'm reading has an asexual protagonist. I think this might be the only thing I've read in which an asexual person is the main character.

Yay asexual representation, I feel loved.

Yay indeed!

Actually, another one just occurred to me; the protagonist in Charles Stross' Neptune's Brood, Krina Alizond, is also asexual. Oh! And the protagonist of Anne Leckie's Ancillary series, Breq Ghaiad, is apparently asexual (well, mostly. Breq is ... complicated in ways that might spoil the plot). Other than that I've read things with asexual people as supporting characters (Eth's Skin is the one that comes to mind) but I can't think of any others.

It turned out there's more than I remembered. :D

Not ... really? I mean, I certainly used to have a libido, before I started taking anti-androgens (I don't really miss it now though), but my position has always been that becoming physically intimate with someone would require becoming emotionally intimate with them first; and I'm both not particularly good at that, and kind of scared of that, and also just finding and maintaining a romantic relationship has always seemed like an exorbitant amount of effort, risk, and bother, so I've never really been tempted to try, and I realize that if I don't try it's unlikely to happen and I'm fine with that.

So in practical terms yes, sort of, but actually not really. I certainly have a voracious appetite for adorable lesbian romance stories, so I'm probably more of a romantic than I think. :P

Early in the morning, risin' to the street
Light me up that cigarette and I strap shoes on my feet
Got to find a reason, a reason things went wrong
Got to find a reason why my money's all gone
I got a dalmatian, and I can still get high
I can play the guitar like a motherfucking riot
Well, life is too short, so love the one you got
'Cause you might get run over or you might get shot
Never start no static I just get it off my chest
Never had to battle with no bulletproof vest
Take a small example, take a tip from me
Take all of your money, give it all to charity
Power, power, the law of the land
Those living for death
Will die by their own hand

The driver that police suspect caused the accident is being questioned in the hospital.

As for our track coach - original news at 10PM was that his spine was severed at the neck and he was in ICU fighting for his life. Last update I heard was at midnight and he had moved some of his fingers and was able to breath on his own.
