They didn't know of the safety risks because they didn't have the same understanding as the americans did at the time of this incident.

My favorite is the Karachay Lake one. The way Soviets continued operations despite so many critical errors is a funny story to talk about.

This does not justify three (or more, I forget how many) noticeable disasters. Soviets just wanted that region to mine and process uranium full steam ahead, giving a fuck to environment or to the worker's health (ironically). Their blatant lack of planning is also funny to mention since they dumped the whole waste in a vital source of water some cities used by there.

Now if only there were someone out there who needed massive amounts of coal. Someone with a cult of personality and a keen interest in surveillance. Someone who sees you when your sleeping. Who knows when you're awake.

China is not going to disrupt their own power grid but in the interim before they can take the majority if not all of their coal plants offline, China is supposedly working on rolling out at least 100 nuclear power plants. Most other countries are too afraid of pursuing nuclear to the extent that they could be doing.
The other countries are justified, given that the nuclear waste could pollute the enviroment with radioactivity, or there could be a chance of nuclear meltdown, like Chernobyl or Fukushima-Daichi

Chernobyl was due to shity Soviet construction and tech, Fukushima didn't leak any nuclear material.

That Japanese plant released rad. water which has spread through parts of the North Pacific. It already has reached California. They say some restaurants in California give customers who want 100% safe food the option of ordering Pacific or Atlantic codfish. There is a chance, whatever small, that the Pacific codfish could be rad.

That water is not dangerous or lethal. The radioactive isotopes in the water are near zero at this point. There is no safety concern over the water or fish caught off the US west coast. Please stop peddling anti-science bullshit. http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news ... ater-leak/
the U.S. tolerates much higher amounts of radiation
it's clear that high doses of ionizing radiation are dangerous. But the science is less clear when it comes to low dose radiation
And remember that radiation is cumulative. Most scientists agree there's no such thing as a harmless dose.

America was probably a smart baby then, since their death toll and environmental damage from nuclear power was much smaller than USSR's. Also I don't know how dump nuclear waste in a river that gives drinking water for the local population is justifiable. No retard in its full consciousness does this.

Actually, there is a nuclear accident in America where nuclear products spilled into a river used by the Native Americans in a Native reservation. The government discriminated them, as they don't give them full damage fixing. Also, this unrelated discussion should continue in a new thread as it's jacking this thread
