Something about cosplayers not actually believing they're superheroes, no doubt.
Crimes committed by Muslims will be a pan-Islamic plot and proof of Islam's inherent evil. On the other hand crimes committed by non-Muslims will merely be the acts of loners who do not represent their belief system at all.
The probability of one's participation in homosexual acts is directly proportional to one's public disdain and disgust for homosexuals.
If a political figure makes an accusation of wrongdoing without evidence, odds are probable that the accuser or an associate thereof has in fact committed the very same act, possibly to a worse degree.

See, here's the thing that stuff most people know about, but dressing up as the animal people don't really care/ dislike it unless it's a team mascot. But some people take it way too far..

To clarify, and to repeat my previous post, you are all confusing the spiritual belief of therianthropy with otherkin. Otherkin is a specific subset of therianthropy in which the therianthropes associate themselves with a species or race that is not typically regarded as "real". IE, elves, gryphons, dragons, etc. Creatures typically found in fantasy works.

Therianthropy refers to the belief that one:
--Shares an unusual connection to a non-human species or
--Is a non-human in a human's body.

And, before we start with the usual "these people are mentally ill" routine, clinical lycanthropy (the medical term for those who fully believe that they are/are transforming into an animal) is a separate term reserved for those people who allow their beliefs to become delusions and act upon those delusions. The results of this are typically detrimental to the health of the afflicted as well as those around them.

Therianthropes are separate.

People cosplaying batman don't generally claim to be doing it for any reason other than simple theatrical entertainment - at the end of the convention, they hang the suit up till the next one, and in the meantime debate, as themselves, some minutiae of comics lore.

This stands in contrast to furries, which generally claim some much deeper reason for their condition, develop a "fursona", and consider their being furry as part of their identity rather than just an interest.
Those who don't remember history, are blessed to believe anything is possible when they're repeating it.

If it's the use of the term itself that you find weird, it might simply come from the fact that I'm thinking of the meaning the French term "décadent" carry but in the context I guess another term I could have used that would have been more fitting is "degenerate" tho it would have had a way more judgemental connotation that I'm not necessarily intending.

Hé, can you really blame me for loving vanilla and having an impregnation fetish? Both are way healthier than furry one are. :^)

If furry is a sexual fetish, then I'm not a furry. Hell, I go to furry conventions, I wear ears and a tail, I'm making a fursuit, I buy furry art and occasionally draw it. But of course, because I don't engage in sexual activity while wearing ears, or buy furry porn, I can't be a furry, right?

Yeah, sure, I can understand your use of the word decadent to describe a sexual fetish. But what you are describing is not the furry fandom, so calling the fandom decadent in that sense does not fit.

And yet all those things you do like going to furry conventions, making fursuits and buying and drawing furry "art", you are doing them out of a desire to fulfill this fetish of your. Whether you jack off to it or not really doesn't matter that much on you actually having a fetish for said thing.

And honestly, I would say that both are as decadent.
