No real opinion on them, I've known a few in the past online and I have no issue with it... I still remember when early in the NS RP community whenever a Furry nation tried to RP people would always declare war and try to genocide them... strange times.

My opinion on furries is going to be incredibly biased (Spoiler alert: I am one) but we're really mostly a super harmless bunch. There are some.... significantly weirder parts of the fandom but that's just a reflection of human sexuality in general. And it's not all about sex, not even mostly really. Really if people didn't want furries they shouldn't of filled cartoons with anthropomorphic animals and had their kids watch them. And we're already well on our way to breeding the next generation of them, looking at you Zootopia.

Reading it, I was shocked that apparently most people think they're all weird, brain-damaged perverts.

In my opinion, furries are fine.(I mean, I am a furry myself) There may be a few... more extreme people that give the fandom a negative opinion (isn't there always?) but most of them just want to have fun and express themselves in a unique and intresting way.
Some of them don't even wear suits- they just read the stories, look at the art, watch the videos.

Depends what you mean with furries. If you mean half-human, half-animal creatures, then they are ok. In fact, I like realistic furries (or anthros), because in furry society there is also homeless folk, war veterans, injured soldiers, sociopaths, persons with high weight, killers, thieves, etc. I can't stand too beautiful furries. When I try to construe a realistic furry society, it turns out into a society, in which life is harsh and usually short.
However, if you talk about human furry fandom, then I simply don't understand some of those peeps. BUT, they can do what they want, unless they harm someone.
