What is your opinion on furries?

A few years ago, my best friend (at the time) for years was a furry and I had a huge crush on her.

I like some of the art, the porn is sometimes okay.
I also like animals and anthropomorphized animals, and think they're cool.
I don't have a fursona.

I never got with my best friend, but I did see her with the fursuit. It was like a disney costume of a rabbit thing. It wasn't sexy at all. She found it sexy though.
I think it's around then I sort of gave up. Some things aren't really surmountable.

Furries are a thing. They mostly keep to themselves and do their own thing.

None of it matters. I've probably met a better ratio of furries than non-furries in terms of who treats me like an asshole.

Most furries don't find the suits sexy either. As to having sex in one, most suits are essentially a giant onesie, which would make sex impossible.

I like some of the art, and I've RPed as anthropomorphic animals before (although I don't do it often, I'd prefer to RP as a magical animal instead :/) and I will say, not quite the same, but I do like my Nekos (anime girls with cat ears and tail). However, once it gets to fursuits, I'm not sure. Occasionally they look cute, but honestly anything sexual with them is odd. But to each their own. Now, once you get to people who aren't just furries, but actually think they're animals... that's weird, and I think they need help. It's one thing to be a trans person, and hell, it's not the people who think they're another species in a human, but once it gets to people who actually act like animals... That's not healthy.

I mean if you asked me what percentage of furries have been cool to me, it'd be higher. My overall impression is that their community is friendlier. But that's entirely based on personal experience. It's possible I'm just not remembering right, or haven't met the right people.

If that's what someone wants to do in there free time go for it, whatever someones reason for being a furry fine by me.

I am annoyed by furry art though. Not in a, oh it's terrible and you shouldn't do what you want, but as an amateur cartoonist most(good) furry art I see online feels like squandering talents, but that's more of my issue with fanfiction in general. That's absolutely just my problem though and people can draw and paint whatever they want.

I have to say that I have a generally negative opinion of them.
It's not because of the fetish-stuff. While it may be spamming the hentai-sites and be unfappable from my point of view, I own several fetishes, that are unfappable for those not into it, myself. I can say that them telling everyone about it is quite annoying, since that stuff is better kept private, but they aren't that special in that regard.

It's also not about the furcons, they really do not have anything to do with me as they do not happen in the area around me and I only know of them happening via hearsay.

However, what made me have a negative opinion on them is the fact that they DO harbor several negative groups in them.
Such as:

• Animal rapists
• Humanophobes
• Perverts (I'm not meaning those who enjoy that stuff in private, I'm reffering to those who force it on everyone else)

Yes, they are a minority in the Furry fandom, however, they do exist and are generally making live worse for everyone around them.
Also, all the contacts I have made with Furries until now always had shown something of them. Their persecution complex.
If you so much dared to tell them that you don't like it, they quickly got incredibly offended a-holes. Someone before claimed that doing so would be equivalent to attributing the KKK to caucasians, which is highly wrong, it would be equivalent of a moderate Klansman who would complain about being likened to his extremist other members.(Just in case, I'm not saying that furries are as bad as the KKK)
Then there is the fact that they often pretend that stuff that isn't furry(Monstergirls for example), which of course antagonizes those who wanted to enjoy things without having to think about furries.
I had left a community I was two years in, because the admins, who were both furry, became unhinged degenerates.
Also, the fact that you actively join a group which has this particularly bad reputation really doesn't let you shine in a good light.
If you have a fur-fetish which you privately enjoy and do not share on non-containment sites, I won't have any problem with you.
If you introduce yourself to me as a furry and show the typical behaviours, I will have a negative opinion of you.
