I doubt it's meds. I only asked because on of my friends always types like that when they're high. I was going to tell you to go lie down, but nevermind. :lol2:

I think the closest I could relate are those that were my friends who joined service, where I was 'denied'. After a few of them were killed, it just didn't feel quite right, and in someways, I felt like I should've been the one in the casket.

My mom has never been for abortion, but she wasn't active in any ministry until post-Katrina. And she always wanted kids anyway...and then she got three of us!

You said it takes a lot of bodily resources, all body resources are measured in their ATP cost because it requires energy to drive the body's processes to create the cells and structures required.

The "calories" in 7.3 are actually not dietary calories by the way, it's even less than I estimated at 10 kcal, these are 7.3 scientific calories, or cal. So the entire process of creating a sperm cell, let alone 1500 per second, is extremely trivial. Your eyelids consume more energy moving than your body does creating sperm.

Of what? That the human body is efficient? Any physiology book will tell you that much.

That men use less than 10 calories per second to create said sperm? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spermatogenesis

For context, my estimate of 10 calories (or 10kcal) is based upon the energy required for a cell to undergo mitosis and meiosis. For context, mitosis takes about 1/2 hour for somatic cells, so for a gamete cell like spermatocytes we can estimate about half of that, or a quarter of an hour. A typical cell division consumes 10 exp 7 ATP per second.

For reference, there are 7.3 calories in one mole of ATP (6.02214179 × 10 exp 23 molecules of ATP), so you need a shitload of ATP before you can even get to 7.3 calories, and cell division only expends 10 exp 7. In one second, your body expends 15,000,000,000 ATP units in the mitosis part of spermatogenesis, assuming meiosis takes double the amount of ATP units: 45,000,000,000 ATP units.

For context, 6.02214179 x 10 exp 23 is a fuckload of 0s.

Maybe it doesn't take a lot of calories, but that sperm has to be made of something.

Think of your desktop. On this desktop is a file. This file has some scripts in it. These scripts serve certain functions. Take a file from someone else's desktop, now put them together. Match the scripts and run the .exe and voila, you have a specific program. That's it. It's not as marvellous as it sounds. It's just replicated genetic information about you in certain configurations. Bacteria has more information than sperm.

Oh my mom not only did it with me, she also did it with my brother after a good long discussion with my dad. Funny thing, originally my dad and mom did not want children, at all. It was only later that they together made the decision to try for one. I could very easily have never existed.

Hypocrisy.

wow where did that come from?

what way out does a mother have that a father doesn't?

Mothers have physical control of the child the entire time that the safe haven window exists. There is no practical way for a father to ever have physical custody unless she first cedes it to him or she gave birth while in jail (and even then it's unlikely).

Because of the way custody works after birth, even in states where the law is in text gender neutral, women and only women can effectively use such a law, either themselves or through an agent.

A father can use it if the mother consents. A mother can use it regardless of the fathers consent.

This is what's called the law being de facto sexist.

In every state, women have responsibility after birth only if they choose, and men have responsibilities only if the women choose not to surrender them.

It's poll tests with grandfather clauses all over again. I'm saying it's racist, and you're on the side of Oklahoma legislature arguing that because you didn't write "no niggers voting" into the text of the law, it's not racist.
