well there, that proves that in the modern world no one ever needs a phone to get a job.

You show me a single job application form that doesn't require a contact phone number and email address. Cars are necessary to get to jobs in many areas.
Here you go.

Phones are not necessary, nor is a car or a computer. A house or a place to stay though I do agree that they are necessary.
I've not seen a single job advert that says anything other than fill out a form on this website, even if you go to a physical shop they give you a booklet with their application website where you go to fill out an application form. You might be able to feasibly do this without personal internet access/ computer if your local area has invested in libraries. Then if they want to take you, they call for preliminary screening - which is rather hard to achieve without a phone. Then they call you for the actual interview, which again is rather difficult without a phone.

They don't call you, you go directly to them and then go to MEPS.
A recruiter's office.
You apply online to enlist in the Army in a recruiter's office?Great Nepal wrote:I've not seen a single job advert that says anything other than fill out a form on this website, even if you go to a physical shop they give you a booklet with their application website where you go to fill out an application form. That's if you can find out that they're hiring without looking it up online. You can go door to door asking places if they're hiring and handing out hand-written CVs, but you're not going to be able to hit a lot of places without a car.

Well the instances that I did was years ago (11 years to be exact) so it might have changed but I honestly did get my first job without a phone in Wilco. Just filled an application and got told to show up at a certain date in a certain place.

don't need to apply online to anything. Heck I don't know anybody who actually applied online for enlistment. Always was to show up either at the recruiter office or go to MEPS.

How do you find either of those places without a phone or computer? How do you get there without a car?

Just looked up a entry level job at wilco; couldn't find anything about offline application forms (or application form download) so they likely stopped since handling paper application is far longer and laborious than using ATSs.

It's like a little kid who tells the principle that the claim about him "is completely false" and follows up with "plus Johnny promised not to tell".

The recruiter has an obligation to get you there.Ashmoria wrote:no wonder our military is so expensive if people can just show up to MEPS without even the least bit of screening to find out of they are eligible or not.
The only screening you are gonna get is physical the rest is really easy even non-Americans can join the military.
