Nice vapor defense. Whose tax returns have the leaked before for the good of the people?

Honestly, the only traitorous president I could think of, was Buchanan. Even Nixon's crap was mostly internal. That said, if Nixon's crap was external, and IRS knew about it, don't you think that they'd leak it?

Seriously though, I honestly think that if the IRS thought that the president was a traitor, and had proof, they'd disclose it.

Donald Trump's '94 returns that were leaked during the election comes to mind.
Though alongside of that comes an image of some IRS agent screaming 'Why didn't you LISTEN to me!' at the television on election night.

Ahhh yup.

I do always remember one it manager from long ago. She was talking up who tax returns were going to be easy because they would look over your spending (she said amercian express) and send you a bill for what you should pay.

She was convinced it was a great thing for everybody.

Most of the time; I found they didn't have much to say.....

So what you're telling me is that the IRS would definitely leak Trump's tax returns if there was anything in them that would damage Trump, unless it's just Trump avoiding taxes as far as he possibly can, because if they leaked that damaging information about Trump then they'd probably be fired. But they would totally not fear for their jobs if there were any other damaging information.

I've left the goalposts where I found them. You said "Considering all of the leaks, if there was anything that would make Trump look like a traitor in his tax returns, it would've been leaked by now." A lot of things could make Trump look like a traitor, even if they wouldn't constitute the crime of treason.

Probably because they did find evidence of Russian hacking and information leaking.

Or probably because they found out that Trump's team had contact with Russia during the campaign.

Pretty nearly.

However a young patrician named Publius Clodius Pulcher managed to gain admittance disguised as a woman, apparently for the purpose of seducing Pompeia. He was caught and prosecuted for sacrilege. Caesar gave no evidence against Clodius at his trial, and he was acquitted. Nevertheless, Caesar divorced Pompeia, saying that "my wife ought not even to be under suspicion."[4] This gave rise to a proverb, sometimes expressed: "Caesar's wife must be above suspicion."[5][6]

In the sense of a political leak? Never that I'm aware of.

Identity thieves did access the IRS transcript service and pull peoples tax return transcripts one time.

Not even that really - they used personal information known to the identity thieves to get past IRS's identity verification system.

It's not so much "hacking" as "they had the information".

Which is not a leak in the sense of a political leak.

Friendly reminder that Franken didn't even fucking ask Sessions about his personal Russian connections, and that Sessions was lying under oath as a way to dodge the actual question. The question was: "If there was any evidence that anyone affiliated with the Trump campaign communicated with the Russian government in the course of this (2016) campaign, what would you do?"

He didn't ever say what he'd do, he just said he wasn't aware of such activities and that he "did not have communications with the Russians." So in this case, lying under oath and adding fuel to an already-incendiary incident he must've known would eventually be unearthed was his way of not actually talking about what he'd do as AG if someone else in the administration had been similarly having meetings.

Which is a far cry from betrayal. Maybe Trump doesn't want to release his taxes because he doesn't want to show how little he made? Would releasing that damage Trump? Maybe. Is that Trump betraying anyone? Nope. But sure, the goalposts stayed exactly where they are, uh-huh:

They blocked Rand Paul? Which means they either have jack shit for a replacement or they don't want Paul to find out it's just Obamacare with a huge gold Trump logo affixed on the face.
