It would have come in handy, I must say. Over the years I've built up a nice little collection of texts in from the Loeb Classical Library and a few from their Renaissance Latin series, the I Tatti Library.

Thank you, Farn. While it isn't the same as holding an actual book (something to which I can only believe is the closest any human shall come to touching the face of god), it will suffice the desire.

De nada. And if I may, look into the Loeb Library edition. It's $26 but it's a 4-1/4 x 6-3/8 inch hardcover with the Latin text on the lefthand page and the translation on the right. The translation is from 100 years ago but still reads reasonably well. And you can put it in your coat pocket and take it anywhere.

Ooooh. I may purchase that come pay day. I can read "Older" English well. I may be a sex-crazed, guy-crazy hedonist, but I am also an intellectual.

Platitudes do not belong in Moderation. They are perfectly acceptable in TET, however.

I find Alexander the Great fascinating. I sometimes fantasized as a child that I had past lives where I was either Alexander the Great or served in his court. Had the same fantasies about Henry VIII as well. Funny what we dream about as children.

Alexander is fascinating and he had a profound effect on the western world. These lines say it well ...
A figure lost to flesh and blood and bones,
Frozen into a legend out of life,
A blank-verse statue …
For here was someone who lived all his life
In the most fierce and open light of the sun …
And kept his heart a secret to the end

That's Stephen Vincent Benet writing about Robert E. Lee in his epic poem John Brown's Body but you can say it about Alexander, too. I never met the man - I was living in Corinth and beginning to look west - but I did see the great tomb in Alexandria that Ptolemy stashed Alexander's body in after he hijacked the funeral caravan that was meant to go to Macedon. It was more a monument to Ptolemy than to Alexander. Augustus is said to have appropriated Alexander's seal ring after he captured Egypt but that the Great King visited him in frightening dreams, so he sent it back and had another made.

He was a son of Zeus, so I don't put this past him. And poor Augustus was not the most sturdy figure, so this fright was probably even more hilarious in person.

More late night musings over my posting habits: My posts are spread across 618 threads, which equates to an average of 18.75 posts per thread I participate.

But again, I wonder, how often do I actually land in that range in a thread. The old NFL thread is certainly inflating that number with 551 posts. I also must have a couple hundred in the new NFL thread too. Plus threads like TET, the other sports megathreads, the Libertarian thread, the GOP primary threads, and the General Election threads all account for a large percentage of my posts. Plus there are also several threads where I posted once or twice and that was it, including several moderation threads.

So again, I find that the average thread isn't so much about how much I post in each thread, but simply the number that happens to be the average of the wildly differing numbers of posts in each thread.

I assume the majority of my posts are in TETs. That being said, I've a fair share outside of it. 492 threads, to be exact. 16.67 posts per thread.

I'm almost certain that my "most active topic" would be a TET if not for the NFL threads. They just move more slowly than TET and give me more opportunity to make large quantities of posts.

TET is a rather prominent thread for me as well, but that shouldn't come as a surprise to anybody. I also tend to be active in the Arts & Fiction subforum.

Storefronts? I'm afraid you caught me at a loss, for I wasn't even aware that I had made an effort in order to make my storefront look great. Hell, I'm not even sure what a storefront is.
