Okay, but you do understand that American culture is different than South African culture, correct?

I mean, I am an immigrant myself. So I sort of understand where you are coming from. But this is still American culture we're talking about, not South African culture and what "actual racism" means in context of which is worse, South Africa or the United States.

That doesn't necessarily mean it brings anything of worthy context to the conversation though, other than piss on Americans and go "You think you have it bad?! HA! I used to walk 50 fucking miles across a pool of blood from my family and children who happened to be white and were killed by black people over here in South Africa. Man up, America!" like it is some sort of smart revelation that we, in fact, are not as racially divided as South Africa is and so our concerns about racism are more along the lines of the culture of racism that permeates society still, and not so much the blatant racism that can kill people.

You're right. I came off as overly hostile and frustrated with the situation. This isn't about what's worse, just what happened in the US. I guess I just have a hard time toning it down, as most people over here are very unsympathetic and even rude. My sincere apologies. I have 0 experience with racism in the US, so I wouldn't know. This whole even just seems... petty, I guess is how I would describe it to myself.

What I'm getting here is that people can be assholes. I really don't see how this is news or worth getting upset over. Yeah, if it's real then it sucks. But it's not exactly something you can change. At best we'd just confirm what everyone already knows.

I agree that it sucks when things like this happens but we can't even be sure that this happened. Regardless, what do you propose be done? Seems a little... fishy.
The date isn't shown on the receipt, and looks fairly old. For all I know, this could be a radical BLM member bringing in an old receipt from 2002 or so, where racism was more likely than today, or she just wrote it herself. There seems to be no evidence of these people even being in the restaurant.
I'm aware that racism still kind of exists today, and has been a growing fire since November or so, but so have false racism claims. I don't think we should just take her word for it, 's all i'm saying. I wouldn't be surprised if she was caught next week for making the whole thing up.

Complimentary actions of kindness can't really be defamed if that person has a bias. Just as I can't say I didn't help this lady I saw in the parking lot with her groceries because I didn't agree with her bumper sticker. She didn't ask me to help, and it was entirely my choice to be a nice person.

These people were just saying they appreciated the service, but it was against their own personal belief to tip the woman.

Besides, even if this particular case didn't happen, it's obvious that things like this are happening, even though we might not hear about them all.
