I suppose, sure, but at the same time the US was actively trying to help Chiang and the Kuomintang. The Chinese Civil War was more of a post-WWII proxy war. By the time it started up, the Allies had long since stopped being allies.

The fact that I make no effort to defend the Japanese Empire in the early Showa era despite being both a monarchist and lover of Japanese culture ought to stand as a testament to just how awful the crimes of the Japanese were. It's also worth noting that I have been a fairly consistent advocate of constitutional, not absolute, monarchy, and that in any case, the majority of absolute monarchies through history cannot be described as "psychotic dictatorships." For one thing, "dictatorship" implies the illegitimate exercise of power; for another the crimes of Imperial Japan were hardly typical of monarchies through history.
