Like I said in another thread, he could just put a toll on anyone that crosses the border to pay for that wall.

From last year -
A million people will cross the Mexican-U.S. border legally today in both directions

Yes, and he also could raise tariffs on Mexican products too so that they will indirectly "pay". So? This is as expensive as boosting the national debt to the roofs.

Right, and what happens when that reduces legal traffic? Legal trade? Legal tourism? What if not only the economy as a whole, but even government revenue in particular loses more than it gains from such a toll (which is pretty fucking likely)?

That's not what the wall is for.

Daily Reminder: Smoot Hawley didn't cause our problems, the failure to pay WW1 debts and a general breakdown in finance did

Edit: this is not an endorsement of Trump's trade policies merely a statement of causes

You also can't be afraid to walk away from the table when it isn't working or apply other leverage. Our failures earlier are revisiting us in Trump.

News from seven hours ago. The Pres. of Cuba, who is in the Dominican Republic attending a conference of Latin American and Caribbean states, said he has no problem with Trump. That is has long has Cuba s sovereignty and independence is not threatened.

Should mention that Latin Amercan leaders are not happy about this new US protectionism and immigration laws. Some say this will create a more united region.

Well if things go the way they are and they [Mexico] buddies China, that could make things interesting.

Would be even more interesting if a few million illegals got deported over with a little note on the way that details Mexico's extraordinary natural resources and wealth disparity to the political class.

As much as anyone might want to argue, Mexico would be in no state to play hardball with a Trump administration. Not with their internal state and corrupt upper class.

Let's not forget that even if they try to escalate things to war, they would be out-classes, out gunned, and out maneuvered. They lack proper armored vehicles. In fact, let's compare.

Why wouldn't it? The northern giant is striking at Mexico again and now they all know how to fight guerrilla revolutions against us. It's full of corruption and rough land. They would do better than the Triple Alliance against Cortes at least.

I have no doubt that American military supremacy remains undoubted against our neighbor to the south. It's just that once the Fuerzas Armadas are blown out of the way like the hijos de chingadas they are (/joking) there will be a period of guerrilla resistance.
