Not by much. It's a college town and I don't mean the seminary Greenville has, either, so alot of the extra pop is students. On the other hand, there's more farms, on the other Greenville has more game in the nearby mountains and direct access to the Blue Ridge Parkway... I used to live on Reeves Ave..... up past the hospital.

Hampton Ave was where I was for a bit
I like Wyoming, I get all the same things I liked about the Carolinas...with fewer people. This is a good thing.

California, we supply 90% of the American grown fruits and vegetables, have an economy larger then the fifth (Or at least one of those ones in the top ten.) most powerful nation on Earth, and the largest entertainment industry in the world.
Do you want to be a Member of the Reavi Pact? Probably not, but on the off chance that pollution and war are for you: The Reavic Empire

Do you want to have an Embassy in Reavani Space? Probably not, but on the off chance that Trade, Diplomacy, and a Nice Space Station are all in your bag of enjoyment, take a look at

Yes, and the most crime and more ANNUAL natural disasters than anyone sane wants to deal with. But then, Californians aren't known for their sanity.

High altitude desert on one section, densely forested mountains in another. It's wild and primal and free. Jade is so common you can pick it up off the ground, same goes for geodes.

Doesn't mean they don't, though. Take a look at Cali's stats on that, sometime. Between the drunks and the idiots in hotshot cars....

Another non-serious comment. B'sides don't see this hypothetical scenario happening any time soon. As far as I'm concerned California is the best for having the annual AX.

Two things that occur in SoCal are worth attending. ComicCon and Moonridge. That's it.

Back on topic, I'm not sure the existing state boundaries would hold up under a collapse of the Federal government. I see, for example, eastern Washington, northern Idaho and western Montana as being a more unified bloc than any of those 3 existing states. Definitely more of a timber and mining focus there, and generally lacking agriculture, but I doubt trade would cease. If considering a state with current boundaries on its own with the current ag, mining, and industry base, I still say MN may be the best.

But that is a fatuous answer, for those who are satisfied to mind their own business do not aspire to become authorities." ~ Thomas Szasz

Here's a proposal to my American friends, Mexico will take troublesome Texas off your hands, as long as we get to deport George "Dubya" Bush to the US.

Do we have a deal?

Still there is much potential here. I think a mutually beneficial agreement could still be worked out. Would Mexico be willing instead to take Texas off our hands and arrest Bush and send him off to Hague to face a war crimes tribunal?

Can I gun for my current home state?
If Maryland, DC and Virginia joined -they already do so much together-, they'd hold off well.

Florida could also do good, but it depends so much on Disney...It's the largest employer around!

About Puerto Rico, I don't think it would fare so well without the USA...Look at what's happening now!
