I reside in the rural boonies to where I'm an hour from any major blast radius of nuclear weapons if a large city of 100K+ in Michigan is targeted.

Sounds fun, man I wish I could live in such a place where I'm an hour away from major population centres!
Must be peaceful not being within a blast radius.
I'd actually lived for a few days in the countryside, like in a small town... though it was still pretty connected to the outside world regardless and we stayed in a hotel, but yeah; was pretty close to farms in the soil for that time as opposed to farms jacked up on hydroponics.

Unfortunately, no. I am in rough shape after all these years, and everything I've been through, but still living in the same body I was built with in 1862.

The thing is, it's still not terribly desolate. Lots of moderate sized cities of 40-80K, but no one big city within 30 minutes.

You know I read 3-7 and cursed child as well as Beetle and the bard, did I miss much not reading the first two?

I've only read them once, but they are good books. I just pretty much never reread books.

. It's all one big story to me, you can't have the rest without the firsts. You can consider that my stamp of approval.

Some of the best books out there.Hetalia Dakota 2 II wrote:You know I read 3-7 and cursed child as well as Beetle and the bard, did I miss much not reading the first two?
I . . . can't even conceive of the idea of not having reading any individual books in the series.. It's all one big story to me, you can't have the rest without the firsts. You can consider that my stamp of approval.

I think they are worth reading. The 2nd is probably my favorite book out of the series.
7 has to be my favorite. The story of Severus Snape. The reflections upon everything that's happened in the series, everything he's done. It's too damn good.

To be fair I saw all the movies and simply didn't own the first two books.

The movies are totally incomparable to the books. The books are so far superior. I think the only book-to-movie movies I've ever seen that do the books justice is the Lord of the Rings series.

The LOTR movies were really great movies, but everyone should still read the books because there is a lot of stuff that is in the books that is not in the movies.

Snape is a great character, but I thought the 7th book tried too hard to be dramatic and deal with big issues. I liked how the earlier books mixed magic with the everyday, and it didn't feel so far removed from reality.

The books also weren't created through undermining worker's rights, or exploiting or underpaying staff - as is the general thing with most movie studios. LOTR has a dark side that isn't just Mordor.USS Monitor wrote:Bralia wrote:The movies are totally incomparable to the books. The books are so far superior.
