Also, since I'm gonna be stuck in fucking Marikina, what the fuck is there to do there? without my QC haunts I don't know what to do.

Two new Ayalas opened up, one sa may SSS, right near Marist kung alam mo yun. Another sa Marcos Highway, sandwiched midway between SM Marikina and Rob Metro East.

Other than that, idk how long you've been gone but Lilac's always changing. A couple of cool drinking places opened up a while back along Gil Fernando, riding the wave with the Food Park fad. Dunno if they're still open, though.

Ugh no more malls, please.

I tell ya what, gonna give my fully unsubstantiated opinion, malls are only popular because of the fucking traffic. Yeah I'd bunker down into a condo near a mall too if getting anywhere else meant hours of awkward conversation with a cabbie. I'm gonna miss being smack dab between UP and Ateneo, let me tell ya.

Oooooh LGV boy ka pala ah.

Katipunan's great as always. Some theater shows probably showing in Ateneo or UP. Ateneo got that new art building opened a few years ago so it's got some galleries too.

Lol you said you were smack in between Ateneo and UP. That's LGV or Pansol/Balara. Since you're an expat I assumed the former.

Lived in Katip for ~2 years, and was at Ateneo for 5. Place was boppin. Ababu + Papu's for life.

Well I mean fair. Sorry man didn't mean to put you on the spot or anything, though lemme tell ya if I'm gonna move anywhere fancy Cubao's gotten a real gentrification push, plenty of fancy condo's right where I wanna be. LGV is str8 up sterile, nearly a north american suburb. At least expo is still sort of nice.
Also man remind me to hit you up, family reunions wear me the fuck out and it'd be nice to see a properly friendly face.

Hey, I'm from Luzon myself, and I have no idea what they're talking about. Lmao.

Yeah, kinda boring since all the fun is centered around Metro Manila. But it's also bad because of traffic and pollution and what not.

“P******** i** dilawan”

Yes, I read those all the time. The DDS are combination of flat earthers, antivaxxers, rape apologists, Marcos apologists, and the unenlightened in every sense of the word, so there is absolutely no point in trying to engage them. Once they put out ad hominems, slam that Block button at full speed.

I think you're either looking at the comment sections of some pro-Duterte propaganda source or Rappler comment sections from 2 or 3 years ago. Either way, both sides are guilty of ad hominem. Not even UP students want to write anything on their posts anymore lol

Meanwhile, we of Makati are the wealthiest city...

And have three hours of travel time from Makati to Makati.

Three hours?! Makes me wonder if hoofing it would get you to wherever you're headed faster.

Yes, actually. And Vic's right my bike dunks on all the plebs stuck in traffic.

Bikes are now symbols of wealth and power; I don't make the rules.

yo I ain't said nothing about Marikina, just LGV. For instance, the tackiness of that silly Venetian-themed mall in Makati is no reason to hate the place entirely.

I mean I'm sure I won't mind the place, but even if I don't technically *live* over there the place is where I know, you know? I gotta redraw all my mental maps.

The city is eternally hungry. It needs to 【Consume】and your lungs have been chosen for the sacrifice.

Yes. Even getting around the business districts of Ayala in rush hour is excruciating, so I walk.

But then, there are times when this October has become very sunny for some reason, and it makes me just leave earlier and ride an air-con bus instead of turning to a water elemental once I arrive in my destination.

Almost got arrested today, but thankfully they let me off easy since I'm still a student. Should probably not take pictures of police officers for writing reference next time.

Anyways, anyone have any recommendations for places to visit in Manila? I've been going to the national museums, and they have given me an enlightened appreciation for my culture, but going to Rizal park, taking the LRT, visiting a hospital, and walking through the impoverished streets really gives a better feel for the city overall.
