Deadass. What does ASEAN even do at this point? Online SEA game servers accomplish more for inter-SEA communications than ASEAN ever will.

Provide good excuses for junkets for all government officials of both the ASEAN members and the Plus/Partner countries. And visa-free travel for a month in each ASEAN state.

No one wants to go farther in political and security/defense cooperation because "muh sovereignty", even though Duterte and his other colleague the Great and Glorious Commander and Prime Minister Hun Sen of Cambodia (yes the motherf**ker actually demands that he be styled like that every time his name is mentioned) are all too happy to bend-over backwards for the Xi Dynasty and the new oligarchs and Chinese megacorps. Then again, lots of money and ego-stroking is a good way to reach typical Asian politicians of most any stripe...

Also, I sometimes get the feeling that ASEAN politicians and governments would rather bow down to Chinese, Americans, Japanese or other foreigners rather than take marching orders from Singaporeans/Malaysians/Filipinos/Indonesians/Thais/Vietnamese/Burmese.

Honestly, I just give up defending Duterte. So yes, he gives in to Chinese orders more than his predecessors did with the US (except Magsaysay, that CIA man). The leaders of this alliance are all to happy to bend down to the will of the Chinese with infrastructure and money. Change never came, Duterte.

TBF, Filipino politicians in general are very easily bought and corrupted. Duterte wasn't the first BTW; Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and her partner in the shadows Jose de Venecia started this whole shebang when they sold out our interests via the JSMU and the ZTE-NBN projects. Erap, had he not been overthrown, would probably have sold us out to China too (he certainly sold out a lot of Manila when he became Mayor again).

Aquino and the Liberals didn't sell-out as much (preferring the Yanks), but I doubt that would have lasted. Chinese largess would have gotten to them too just as it did a lot of their allies.

We will never have change unless every single existing political family in the country is banned from power; unfortunately, there are only a few ways to even attempt such a feat... none of which anyone's prepared or ready for.

The only way to solve our country's problems, in my opinion, will be through revolution.

And I'm not talking about "just step down and all will be forgiven" revolution.

I mean, the good ol' fashioned "put them all into jail and elect all new politicians" revolution.
"They say I'm insane, but take a look at the world and tell me the pleasures of sanity."
My IRL politics are simple: anti-Chinese Communist Party. If a view is anti-CCP, no matter how bad it is, that's my view.

Jail is not enough. The system is too broken, judges too corrupt/incompetent and too many lawyers with no morals and no ethics and all-too-happy to sell out for fat paychecks.

Want them gone, you'll want them gone permanently, otherwise they will just keep coming back like a particularly virulent and persistent cancer.

^ This too. The desire to see Duterte and his cronies "brought to justice," while admirable, still very much means "I'm trusting in the system to apprehend these cronies because the system is good in doing that" when, historically, our current political system has never been good at apprehending the corrupt. The Marcoses were allowed to return from exile in 1991 (shit move) and went on to turn Ilocos into their fiefdom, send Ferdie's kids to the senate, and nearly grasp the vice presidency. Erap got a pardon and got second place in the presidential election in 2010, and went on to become mayor of Manila for six years. GMA became a congresswoman and speaker. The Ampatuans still haven't been convicted, and many of their witnesses get assassinated each year. And lest we forget, Bong "Budots" Revilla is in the senate now.

After Duterte's term we really can't - and shouldn't - expect these guys to be "brought to justice." Not here in the Philippines, at least. Internationally? Yeah, alright, you go do that.

Why waste money?!? The political class have empirically leeched enough money that we could have built at least one shuttle, maybe two.

One-way irrevocable plane tickets to some Polynesian island (preferably one soon to go under due to rising sea levels in 20-30 years) are much, much cheaper.

This is just a really inaccurate assessment of the whole media circus going around Bikoy. More likely what's happened was that he made some videos that went viral, the police, violating his freedom of expression and made probably a dozen or more human rights violations, tracked him down and threatened and coerced him into becoming a turncoat and saying no the videos are all a lie the libs made me do it.

"Attention whore." Come on now, do better.

but now Duts has an excuse

Bikoy's just blabbering now to save his arse from jail. Just like his 2016 escapades. if I am President Duterte's advisor, I'll advise to take his current testimony with a grain of salt. Most likely it was inflated as always.

Michel Nicole Demetrius, 40 (but looks like 15 due to Edel Raid genes), also known as King Michel II Nicole of Neo-Routhengard (regnant for 29 years), also the Neo-Routhengardian delegate to the World Assembly. The only known offspring of an Edel Raid and a human.

Neo-Routhengard is a Class 0.78 civilization, according to this index.

Castelia wrote:The only way to solve our country's problems, in my opinion, will be through revolution.

And I'm not talking about "just step down and all will be forgiven" revolution.

I mean, the good ol' fashioned "put them all into jail and elect all new politicians" revolution.

Meh, I'd say you're not going in on this revolution thing hard enough.

Execute all corrupt officials, arrest and torture all supporters of the old system, and bring in a new and technocratic council whose principles are in line with the ideals of a fair and just society by and for the Filipino people.

Basically what I'm saying is bring in a Reign of Terror that'll make Robespierre look like a playground bully.

In the Complete Bullshit & Denial department...

PHILIPPINES PRESIDENT DUTERTE SAYS HE WAS ONCE GAY 'BUT I CURED MYSELF'

Rod is either bi or he's in denial. Gay conversion never works regardless of method.
Bloodthirsty savages who call for violence against the Right while simultaneously being unarmed defenseless sissies who will get slaughtered by the gun-toting Right in a civil war.
