I genuinely don't see why they went for normal old minibus's instead of something more, well, jeepney inspired. Sure, they'd still be fucking with the poor operators, but at least the jeeps themselves would still be fun.

Not yet. The gentrified shit cars have received a lot of controversy and iirc PISTON and other transport groups are threatening another strike if they continue. But without acts of solidarity from other transport groups (FX, bus, trike drivers + Grab and Angkas (unlikely)) further jeepney strikes won't do as much damage. It can still be effective since strikes are great and they do a lot, but idk if it can be effective enough to get this administration to stop fucking over poor people.

Oh definitely. But there's not really (AFAIK) a unified organization like PISTON for trikes, except for the barangay-wide TODAS.

Local TODA actions have been effective in the past, based on experience. The Loyola Heights TODA was able to bargain for higher fares a few years back, especially when they closed down the intersection in front of Ateneo Gate 3 (KFC, Regis Center) and made the trike drivers have to u-turn at CP Garcia. But idk if they've ever done any unified organizing and strike actions.

Yes, but to be honest, the transport groups these days are too fragmented. Its every vehicle type for itself these days it seems.

It doesnt help that these groups' have more or less stopped caring about winning over the riding public. Which is part of why people are supporting replacing them despite the obvious impacts to livelihood of the drivers.

Because they aren't using their brains, and/or aren't as Catholic as people say they are. I really wonder sometimes if Filipinos are as religious as the stereotype would have you believe because as a hispanic, from a community that supposedly is very religious, many of us haven't been to church in years and do everything the bible says "YOU'RE GOING TO HELL!" about.
