Trump MAGAthread II: Donald and Mike go to the White House

First thread.

Demonstrations, intelligence indicating that Russia intentionally influenced the election towards Trump, a fight with a Broadway musical, Twitter feuds with Alec Baldwin, SNL, NBC, CNN, and a union representative (the last of which resulted in death threats for the rep), a strategist with ties to right-wing extremists and Neo-Nazis, figures in his own party openly breaking ranks against him, extra money being spent to keep his family safe because they want to stay in New York, cabinet appointees who seem to want to destroy the very department they head, a National Security advisor who promulgates outlandish conspiracy theories, ratcheting up military and diplomatic tensions with China, a proposed Secretary of State so close to the Russians that he faintly smells of borscht and vodka, and so much more...and it's been just a bit over a month. Imagine what the next four years have in store for us.

Join in! Let's start by talking about the hacking scandal discussed at length in the last thread. Just what in the bejabbers is going on here, and will Trump survive unscathed, or will a pall of illegitimacy stick to his Presidency as a result?

Change the name, mod abuser.
You wouldn't like it if we called your precious Hill-Dawg a political prostitute in our threads.

I'm interested in the exact implications of Trump's antagonistic attitude towards China. Particularly given they hold most of the US' debt, and produce much of the goods sold, though as I understand it, their manufacturing has stalled somewhat.

You might want to edit that.

I mean, what are they really gonna do about it? They could practically annihilate the American economy if they really wanted to, but it would probably also destroy theirs.

At which point, Luxembourg rises from the ashes and becomes the dominant global superpower.

He's currently rattling sabers over Taiwan, which seems ill-advised.

And I guess you don't like the comic that inspired the title of this thread, but that's ok.

Edit: forgot the link. Silly me.

He makes a decent point. I almost got banned in July for calling Hillary "HillBot."

You probably mean Lichtenstein.

I mean, I'm speaking from a position of not knowing too much about how economics works, but to me it doesn't seem unreasonable to see China calling in just enough debt to stall, or limit the growth of, the American economy.

She's not particularly precious to me, she's certainly not mine, I don't particularly care what you call her so long as it's within the forum rules ("Hill-Dawg", by the way, is not), and I'll change it the minute someone comes up with something equally as timely and amusing.

I don't know a heck of a lot about economics either but it seems that the two countries are so closely related in terms of trade, that a stall for one means disaster for the other (and probably the world).

It's the habitues of the RWDT who tend to choose the titles, I believe. They have a sense of humor about it.

I woke up in the middle of the night in a panic over all the things that the republicans are going to ditch.

mitch McConnell says they will repeal Obamacare immediately and maybe get a replacement in 3 years or so. paul ryan wants to voucherize medicare. the prez-elect vowed to tear up the iran nuclear deal. tpp is dead. they want to repeal dodd frank and, of course, crush the consumer financial bureau--the only bit of government that ever sent me money without having to apply for it. twice. we will once again have cabinet chairs filled with people who hate the government and the department they run.

we are so utterly fucked.

Perhaps.
But then the Asian economies seem to be doing very well from what I've heard. The emergence of an Asian powerhouse that could fill the void left by America doesn't seem too unreasonable.

There we go. The subtitle has been removed to save the feelings of users who might take offense. You can figure out the rest among yourselves. I'm done.
