More workable, more accountable system of government, the current EU system is a mess. Less red tape for the sake of red tape. Less overbearing and micromanaging, more a lose association focused on a few issues. Something like the 10th amendment, but with more teeth.
Possibly have the EU be a lose association of several, smaller organizations. Say separate Nordic, Eastern European, Southern European, Central unions, with the EU a overarching coordinator, but most things delegated to lower levels.

Just some thoughts. But that is their problem, not ours.

The EU as it is today is the logical evolution from where we started. We wanted a free market, with free movement of goods, capital, services and people. To make that work, some red tape is required. We're always taking the next logical step. Somehow, people with no idea of the inner workings of the union or the founding treaties always think it's somehow a mess.

If it is working why is the EU economy stagnant, unemployment very high, and countries leaving or threatening to do so? Sticking your head in the sand will not save it.
Sure few people understand the inner workings, as they are so convoluted and confusing.
Also anything could be made better, regulations always streamlined, improvements made.
But again, your problem not ours.
