Fine gentlemanly individual, while I am fairly certain that we have all had violent dreams, tis a possible violation of the rules of this website.

Comrade Dio, I do not wish to seem rude, but I believe that you are mistaken as to my current location and/or ethnic background. I am currently a resident of the Rust Belt in general, and the Anthracite Coal Region of Northeastern Pennsylvania in particular. My heritage is mostly Eastern and Central European.

That what you said - "Teaching people Santa exists is what will breed into people feeling entitled and eventually a welfare state" - is not true, though the discussion has apparently since gone off on a tangent.

I'll just start off with this one since it's the most relevant.
If you teach kids that Santa exists and gives what ever you want for Christmas as long as you act good, the kids will grow into adulthood with the mentality that you can just wish for anything and to get it or to ask other people for whatever you want. This creates a welfare state because these same kids who were taught that Santa exists and gives whatever you want to all, will turn into adults, protest when they don't get their wishes and lack the comprehension needed to why nothing in this world is free. Many Americans most likely don't know where the funds for Universal Healthcare and Free College Tuition will come from.

http://money.cnn.com/2016/04/26/pf/coll ... e-sanders/
This also creates a generation of adults with low self-esteem, as their efforts will invariably fail or create an unexpected consequence and when your entire life mentality is based around "everybody's a winner" and your efforts to achieve something (no matter how stupid) fail, you feel bad. But do you really think they'll try and work to achieve their goals? Or do the same thing they were raised to do? Wish and pout when you don't get it. These people don't even think they lost anything because of their mentality.

Note that I'm not talking exclusively about millennials. All generations have and could be affected by this and the one reason I used the 4th article was because it talked about self-esteem in the context I was using. There are better ones but whatever.

You've got to be kidding me. Dude live a little. Telling the kiddos that santa is real isn't going to turn them into entitled brats.

It's obvious why one would want to keep the Roman Empire, and the German Empire maintained a unique economic and political stability in Central Europe that, once broken, allowed for the rise of fascism in Europe. But the British Empire? What's so great about an empire built purely on colonial exploitation?
