Who knows, somewhere along the line their country might see meaningful reform to the point where it is democratic and free. Or maybe that's just optimistic.

The key word there is "integral." Those territories and Hawaii are integral parts of the United States, with their inhabitants full citizens, and not provinces with second-class rights. The Philippines became a commonwelath in 1935 and were scheduled to become independent in 1945. As it is, WWII set that schedule back only one year. But hey, believe what you like, it's only NSG.

As person currently going through the China unit in history, and as a person who had to read To Live for english, China is the saddest nation I've ever laid my eyes upon. Their attempts at democracy have all failed, they can't even do fascism or communism right. I highly doubt China would ever form, they have too strong of an iron grip on the people, with enough of a facade of "Socialism" and "Democracy" that the people are relatively happy with it. The only thing that might make China change is their demographics, which I believe are due to the One Child Policy, has too many men, and not enough women.

You have an interesting point. China really has no history of representative government. It has no tradition of democracy to fall back on. Even if it does democratise, newborn democracies tend to have numerous problems (see Latin America once it got independence). However, we've seen from Chinese history that a dynasty never lasts forever, no matter its strength at its height. The CCP will have to give at some point, and everything depends on what comes next.

As a pessimist, I expect terrorists will win.
As an optimist, I hope India will win. Britain civilized India therefore they carry the legacy of Arthur Pendragon himself.Rome 0 = Alexander's minions

If that's the case, we have quite awhile to go if China now is like a dynasty then (quite ironic, really).

Not really. The Qin and Xin dynasties for example only lasted 15 and 14 years respectively. The Yuan dynasty didn't last a century. A number of others lasted only around a century or century and a half. The CCP has been in power for over 70 years, so it is quite possible that we can see its end in the next half century or so.

None will realize the true threat of Canadian immigrants until it is too late!
