Especially when it is already known that many of the translations where in error in some way shape or form. The idea of the virgin birth for instance could be said to be a translation error since elsewhere the word is used to mean young woman, not virgin.

Language is a complex and nuanced field, if you don't understand that, then you shouldn't try to debate it.

The specific word used - "almah" is similar to the modern word "maiden," it does not necessarily mean "virgin," but does not exclude that possible meaning of the word. The first book of the New Testament (the Gospel of Matthew) was written around 80 A.D. by a male Jew who was experienced in the Jewish scripture of the time. We know that Mary's virgin birth was not a translation error, all of the events of the story show that she was a virgin from the arrival of the angel to the doubt of her betrothed Joseph. So the mistranslation would not be the product of modern Biblical scholarship, but a Jewish man who somehow mistranslated his own language.

Appeal to tradition is perfectly valid when you're trying to find out what people in ancient times thought that something meant. In such a case, it's always better to go with what the ancient people actually said about it, rather than modernist interpretations by non-native speakers. Moreover, the condemnation of homosexuality is not dependent on Paul in the first case.

Sweden better recognizes incidents of rape when they occur. Sweden's rape statistics appear shockingly high due to chronic underreporting throughout the rest of the world. Most of the world will find rates of rape at or above Sweden's level.
