This is actually pretty much a maximally shit result in the short term: Tory NHS-screwing, and DUP general insanity.

The lame cuck Tory-Terrorist coalition is less able to pursue anything even marginally controversial than the previous government.

This is much better than an outright Tory majority or even a wafer thin Labour one liable to collapse at any moment leading to a swing back to the Tories. As far as results go, it's far from maximally shit if your main foci are the NHS and social liberalism.

You're catastrophizing an okay result into some kind of imminent attack. Things went relatively well, you are permitted to smile!

I definitely think that the short-term outlook is rather bleak, but that, in the long-term, this coalition will be the ruin of the Tories. The DUP is definitely not a party the people wanted in government, and Theresa May has lost her majority mandate. Overall, this is a situation that will largely neuter the government, while also damaging their view in the public eye severely. I expect that opinion polls will reflect a stronger more governable Labour Party in future.

While I'm sure there are plenty of Tories who'd be aghast at any such deal, it's particularly helpful that the leader of the Scottish Conservatives is a tough-as-nails gay woman who's not on the best terms with the Westminster leadership at the best of times. Theresa May is not stupid enough to fuck with Ruth Davidson.

Being polite by calling people the name and pronoun they prefer is not raising their rights above others. If a person asks me not to call them Mister Obama but rather Barack then it is polite to do so. If people ask me not to call the Dick but instead Richard that is the polite thing to do.

As to weddings, protecting against discrimination is something that is done for those who have been discriminated against, like say women or African Americans, or those of minority women. This is not raised above others, this is equalizing in the face of discrimination. There are places where there is not another store. Tell me should a gas station be allowed to refuse service to someone because they are black? How about that wedding shop? Why does being gay or Trans mean they are allowed to deny service?

It was to escape people like you, Wysten. As far as I am aware, this is not a thread for debate between anti LGBT and (unsurprisingly) pro LGBT people.

I don't care enough to argue on this thread, but the mods have said before that this thread is for discussion of trans issues, and it isn't immune from anti-LGBT posters. There are certain things that aren't allowed, such as deliberate trolling; however, there's no rule against posting from an anti-LGBT perspective on this thread.

I agree for the most part, but I think that, in terms of providing general services and goods, you shouldn't turn people away unless they've broken store policy; For example, if a gay couple is going to a restaurant, they should be served no questions asked, because the nature of the service and good isn't objectionable; however, if someone is selling a customized service or good that, if they served a certain person, it would violate the tenets of their faith (or they think it would), then they should be able to refuse the service (e.g. a priest refusing to perform a gay marriage).

If a person decides to make a public shop (that is a shop that sells to the public) then that person should sell to the public, all the public. If they do not wish to do so they may make a private club and sell to only members.
