New Republic Review wrote:As older conservatives fought out the 2016 election in the pages of the National Review and the Weekly Standard, a younger, more tech-savvy generation of neoreactionaries, white nationalists, ultra-conservatives, and traditionalists took to some of the darkest corners of the web to stake out their role in American political life. To do so, they embraced a transgressive and performative approach—one that, Nagle writes, is “more Fight Club than family values, more in line with Marquis de Sade than Edmund Burke”—inspired not by the work of conservative ideologues but by the tactics of left-wing vanguards. Soon, those “heeding the ideas of the left most closely . . . and applying them most strategically [were] the right.” Rightist troll culture embraced the notion outlined by critical theorists such as Michel Foucault and the New Left thinkers like R.D. Laing that madness is a political and cultural rebellion, and in their hands this idea meant that a position of contrarianism and opposition to consensus values became an end unto itself. Indeed, Nagle explains, the “libertinism, individualism, bourgeois bohemianism, postmodernism, irony, and ultimately the nihilism that the left was once accused of by the right” has found fertile ground in segments of the new far-right.

This would all be inspiring were it not just used to post dumb messages on the internet.

Consider it a deal comrade. On a more serious note, I do find myself agreeing more and more with you on the proletarian morality thing. Speaking from experience, the state of the left on college campuses is in shambles - especially because literally no one outside of the school system wants anything to do with it, and for good reason. I do agree that the left needs a major overhaul if we're ever going to be taken seriously beyond like one tiny corner of the Internet.
It's a sad state isn't it? There are some shining lights out there though. Have you heard of Angela Nagle? I'd highly recommend her.

Yes I agree in a sense. Everything that's absolutely worthless and damaging to the left (that is to say being a fucking narcissistic wanker in a fashion that only gets you admired on the internet or select social circles) is getting absorbed by this new alt right. This reorientation, if it continues might prove far more beneficial to us than them.

I can give you a normal take, which is that Nagle's a closeted regressive (and a TERF) who's intent on blaming PC culture for the rise of nazis in America, and she doesn't even dislike the alt-right that much, hence her whitewash of Jordan Peterson.

Or taking over a city and turning it into a depraved cocaine-filled orgy of Italian nationalism and debauchery.

Sometimes it results in you marching on top of the National Theater.

Calling her some sort of cryptoterf and alt right sympathiser seems to be fairly lazy criticism I've heard a lot, and heard her address in a satisfying way. Strange though, I thought you would have been a fan given your Chapo love, very surprising take to hear from you.

If she's so convincingly dispelled accusations of being a TERF against her, then maybe she shouldnt be boosting Germaine Greer, as recently as a few days ago.
Chapo giving her two episodes to build her brand was a mistake. >>
