Why else would a human leave, if he's not allowed to make money by deceiving people, selling drugs or by plain kickbacks?
Not all humans are good. Moreover, MOST humans are not good. But while some humans after being exposed to normal leftist ideas agree that they led a bad life and want to change themselves, others had just fled to the citadel of evil.
Moreover, if democracy is so great, than why do democratic states have so many homeless people? And why do democratic states have the highest suicide rates per capita?

Eh, we've supported worse people.

That's why I don't sympathize with the outrage against Castro, to be honest. Because the only reason we were outraged at him is because he was not kissing America's ass. If he would have been kissing it, we'd be singing an entirely different tune.

Castro was foremost a Nationalist. Cuba for the people of Cuba. Early on he nationalised plenty of US company properties in Cuba especially when the US oil refineries in Cuba were ordered to stop selling Castro oil. The US had it out for him and his revolution. Castro was painted into a corner. The island was too economically reliant on the US. The only way Castro and his revolution could survive would be to seek help elsewhere. So he sent his brother the Communist to Soviet Russia and you know what happened. Yes, his brother, who is Pres. today, was the family Communist.

What does Castro and Franco have in common. The answer Galicia. Franco was from Galicia. Castro s parents were from Galicia. Both lasted into old age. Some say both got along. Must be that Nationalist connection.

Not a good man at all. My thoughts are with those that were close to him, as well as the families of his thousands of victims. Hopefully this will give the Cuban people some closure, for what it's worth.

Nonetheless, I don't think our recently opened door with Cuba is going to last long. Castro's death doesn't really change anything in Cuba, and neither will his brother's retirement in the next couple of years.

I am absolutely disgusted at twitter right now.

Castro was a true man of the revolution. It was not his fault that people had human right abuses. That was the fault of the government. Castro had little to no power, much like Gaddafi. He was a figure head. He couldn't really do much when he was in power. He was like the Brotherly Guide of the Revolution, having no power, but effectively a figurehead of the country. The Prime Minister of Cuba had total power. he was only in power until 1976 where he became president until 2008. Castro was by no means a clean man, but how was he going to make a change in Cuba if there was still loads of burguoisie scum opposing him? People praise him more than Batistia... and I am disgusted. He made Cuba different, made it prosper. The ONLY reason why economic hardships fell on them was because of the US embargo. Had the US not embargoed Cuba, Cuba would be very first world, and very prosperous. Human rights wouldn't even be much of a concern.

Unless you're prominently involved in a revolutionary organisation that is seriously challenging the status quo, like the Black Panthers were, I wouldn't be worried. And there's no such organisation like that left in the US, because COINTELPRO worked. So no, I'm not implying arguing about the election is going to get you killed.

You can say what you like so long as it doesn't seriously threaten the status quo. It's the same in both the USA and Cuba. Except that Cuba's position is far more fragile. But I doubt you'd get shot for saying Fidel sucks dick, though I'd be willing to see you prove me wrong. You'd probably get punched in the mouth depending where you said it though.
