Rest in peace Fidel Castro. How you have saved the land of my birth from the hated invaders and the hated imperialists.

I pray you passed quietly, only as a mockery to those who would see you dead like your comrade Che Guevara. I hope that all he has done will continue and prosper still in Cuba, and that Raul remembers his brother and all he has worked for.

Today, I, the proudly independent nation of Cuba and communists across the world mourn. May we never forget the 26th of July.

I wasnt old enough to remember any of that cause I wasn't born yet only saw stuff about it in movies, tv and school. But being as polite as I can: I really can't say RIP since so many people who hurt never rested in peace either. Plus when you do something like that amd get isolated your bound to not only hurt your own people and country but yourself as well Castro could have lived much longer if he toned down his stuff.

Yes and no. Some totalitarian regimes would revel in such a sentiment. Communists, on the other hand, tend not to like royalty references to their leadership.

There will be parades in Miami tomorrow.

Let's hope this can help bring more change to Cuba.

After overthrowing the dictator Batista in 1959, Castro and his brother Raul set up a Soviet satellite state in Cuba, and was the center of international attention during the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962 and the failed Bay of Pigs invasion in 1961.

Even after the collapse of the Soviet Union, and in the face of a decades long boycott by the United States, Cuba managed to survive, first under Fidel Castro, and more recently under his brother Raul. Despite recent diplomatic overtures between the U.S. and Cuban governments, Castro remained a fierce critic of his neighbors to the north to the very end.

This thread will be heavily patrolled. Spirited discussion of differing points of view is encouraged, gloating, trolling, and flaming are not.

I mean....Raul was one of the leaders of the revolution, so it's a sensible choice. It's not exactly a dynasty (though if Mariela becomes the next leader that wouldn't be too bad).

Joke and meme for Fidel, may he Rest in Peace:
#CigarsOutForFidel

Fidel arrives in heaven and sees John F. Kennedy
Fidel opens his mouth and says:

"Suck it Kennedy, I got 53 years on you and didn't die from a bullet!"

In any case, what are the odds that get gets embalmed? Seems like most communist movement leaders end up being laid to rest like this(Mao, Lenin)

Good Riddance Mr.castro , under your rule Cuba became a backwater and stagnant country frozen in time , technologically for the most part . One thing admirable however is the man managed to survive attempts to overthrow his dictatorship as well as attempts on his life. Rest In peace
