It is such a lame set of values that lacks machismo more than anything else. I want a different motto that is new and more contemporary, a hard right message to take on the problems that France faces. Something along the lines of: "One people, One nation, One leader" that is in keeping to that central theme but not identical.

This is a new democratic landscape. Today you've agreed to put your trust in me and it's a great honour and responsibility, as nothing was written in stone. I want to thank all of you from the bottom of my heart. I want to speak to all citizens now. No matter who you voted for, I do not hold anything against you. We need to deal with the economy and the moral weakness of the country.
I want to address my opponent, Mme Le Pen. I know the divisions of our nations have pushed people to extremes and I know the anger and the doubt in our country. It's my duty to listen to this. It's about organising solidarity, fighting all forms of inequality and discrimination, ensuring unity and guaranteeing the security of the nation.

I don't want to seem rude, but what's here to celebrate? They elected a 39 y/o guy with 7 step-grand children a wife that's 24 (?) years older than him and was his teacher. Not a good moral poster boy for Europe, is it?
Many of the voters that voted for him have done so just to vote against Le Pen and it's not like he was an underdog in this race. He is a former banker, worked for the Rotschilds and god save us from what we are about to discover about him and his campaign from the recent leaks. It's kinda like Trump v. Clinton - neither are good. If anything we should be sad that the choice was between two bad candidates, because let's face it - neither of them are close to being great.

Le Pen's anti-EU and far-right views don't exactly resonate well to the world (unless if you're Putin or Trump). It's not like she can rule better. Macron even pointed out that she'll start a "civil war" and represents the "party of hatred."

You can face all you want, but I'm fed up with having to run along with crowds who think they're such enlightened cynics by calling both candidates bad off the beat. Macron has many of the qualities I look for in a leader, so I'm prepared to, for once, celebrate, not merely breathe a sigh of relief.
I hope there are at least a few here hoping to do so as well.

Both Macron and his wife are consenting adults. What's the moral problem here?

Well Macron can say whatever he wants. It's not like he was trying to take votes away from Le Pen or anything. (Scaremongering and using your political opponent as a scapegoat doesn't work well in a long run, trust me.)

Well there is some good news![]()
Twitter is exploding with the happy about all this :- "France now has a reason to be condescending to America", "For the first time in a long while the French version of something has a happy ending"This is a new democratic landscape. I can't tell you how happy I am by all this. The idea that the far-right is being stomped down again makes me smile
