CA seceding is very unlikely anyways, since US law doesn't allow secession I think.

Ideas like these are just made up by the political establishment to discredit Trump, even after being elected.

It is unlikely. What I meant was that even if California seceded against the orders of the US government there probably wouldn't be a war. Lots of controversy, tension, and possibly unrest, but no war.

No she won't. For the first time in the election, she was a good sport (unlike her supporters) and conceded. The election is done and the U.S. has made it's choice.

Donald Trump won the election legitimately, the electors won't change their votes due to the dishonorable nature of it. Get over it, America voted in Donald Trump.

I agree, people should just accept the outcome and give the god-emperor President-elect Mr. Trump a chance.

Just because a candidate concedes doesn't mean her supporters do the same.

About 50-50, most likely. Still with the gun owners, soldiers, and generals all very much concentrated on one side.

No. The Republican electors would not do that. And on top of that, if it were Trump that got the popular vote and Clinton who got the college you would not be complaining.

That's not what I mean. What I mean is that no Clinton supporters would be complaining about the college if Clinton won the college vote. I'm not talking about how its been the topic of discussion for decades by both sides.

Yes. Yes I still would.

Not that I wouldn't be pleased with how it worked in this one instance, but it would still be an injustice in need of rectifying.

It's actually not cheating from a rules standpoint. It's just a shitty thing to do.

Actually, it's not cheating because it is clearly allowed by the US Constitution and would allow the election to be won by the person who had the most votes.

Can you imagine the reaction from the hundreds of millions of Trump supporters, who have always been told that the system is rigged against them, if Clinton suddenly took away all their dreams via a byzantine and rarely-discussed electoral procedure? If you thought the riots going on now were bad, hoo boy... I would sure be glad that I'm a politically independent gun owner.

Right wingers generally don't have a habit of rioting in the streets.
Good point. However, right wingers do have a habit of confronting federal agents in armed standoffs, burning ethnic churches, and bombing government buildings.

Obviously I am exaggerating and being facetious with my comments about violence. However, from a standpoint of national unity, this would be, without much exaggeration, the worst thing to happen to the United States since the election of Lincoln and the southern states' (initial legal) reaction. If the electors were to chose Clinton in a last minute decision instead of Trump, the discredited theory of a liberal rigged system would come screaming back into political discourse. The already deep alienation between liberals and conservatives would turn from a bottomless trench into a political black hole stretching across the universe and, although it might not be riots, violence WOULD happen. Independents like me would have it particularly rough as we endeavor to straddle this black hole and get spaghettified by the gravity of distrust and hatred.

Besides, if you look at the things Trump has said in the past before the election, it's beyond clear that in virtually every aspect except his immigration views he's a RINO, and anyone with a brain can realize that Trump is already a part of the American power elite that many people think he is overturning, so in the long run his presidency making it past December 19 shouldn't matter much to the vast majority of liberals. The gays, however, are in for a rough time if Mike "You like c_ck? Time to get shocked" Pence starts pulling strings in the judicial and the legislative branches.

EDIT LOG: Correcting a minor grammatical mistake ("...to the vast majority liberals." -> "to the vast majority of liberals.")

It's not technically done until the electoral college makes their pick. I hope they would choose the will of the people, but it seems unlikely, in all honesty. Not a reason not to try though.
