Do you want that fate for the Democratic party?

Does it lead to my country being destroyed?

The Democrats will recover. 2018 and beyond.

Like any party has. 2018 has many governor and statewide elections and if the Republicans actually do what they say they will do I cant imagine they will keep power in 2020. The latter is if they don't rig the election so they cant lose.

People asked the Republicans the same question in 2008. They were in a worse position in Congress. Trump is already unpopular and he's responsible for what he does now.

Hopefully he doesn't cause nuclear war.

Hopefully we do. Fragmentation now would mean becoming the British Lib Dems while the Reds sell the country down the river.

Nah, worst case scenario is that the Reds get the run of the country just like we did in the 1820s and 30s until they fuck up and fragment.

This is the best comparison I've ever seen.

Thanks.

It's highly possible yes. A house divided cannot stand.

Allowing lobbying was the worst decision this country ever made.

...Okay, that's a bit extreme.

Pretty sure allowing slavery was worse. Not only did it mean we had slavery for several years; it also caused a major war.

I don't see how lobbying could have been prevented. It's a direct consequence of the right to petition Congress for a "redress of [one's] grievances", as well as the right to free speech.

"Lobbying" is nothing more than petitioning your government/representatives. When you sign online calls to action that have Bernie Sanders' name attached to them, that's lobbying. When you call your congressman's office, that's lobbying. When you press a presidential candidate on specific policy commitments during a town hall debate, that's lobbying. Obviously there need to be some important changes and restrictions made so that the lobbying field isn't grotesquely tilted towards only the wealthiest or best organized (usually because of wealth accumulation) groups, but lobbying is a basic and crucial element of open and responsive government.

still keeping that one conspiracy of yours fresh in the mind, are ya?

Its not a conspiracy when a certain political party limits voting hours and polling places in certain counties and does everything it can to prevent certain people from voting with things like Voter ID laws and gerrymandering.

It's also not a conspiracy when leftists try to censor conservative news outlets, "ban" ideologies, and sometimes even attempt to threaten them.

There's a huge difference between elected officials doing what San Lumen described, and private citizens doing what you just mentioned.

That is bad but what does that have to do with the topic?

Well, Cory Booker said because of regulatory standards or something.

It might be bullshit, but they gave reasons nonetheless.

Keyword is "legitimate". The regulatory standards thing is clearly made up crap, any quick google search will prove that to you.

They're all talking about needing to work together, and not do infighting with each other as well.
