All he has going for him is charisma, and even then, his charm is pretty superficial, to the point where its easily visible.

I do think he would be a serious contender in the Democratic primary. Establishment and black, he has the south and many big cities locked down.

I do not know whether or not he will be more of a threat to Trump than one of the Bernie/Warren wing candidates. But starting a vast right wing conspiracy against him wouldn't do us any harm.

If I were in your position I would start preparing to train fire on Democratic candidates who aren't likely to be crucified by a substantial portion of their own base. Democrats will almost certainly take care of Booker for you.

Any news on Tulsi Gabbard and Jim Webb for 2020? Or just anything those two are going to try and get done by then?

Does Jim Webb even still identify as a Democrat? I could've sworn I read something about how he wasn't comfortable with the party's positions anymore and became an independent.

Webb would still be an atrocious candidate unless he gets over his aversion to retail politics and actually does the work involved in running. Gabbard may well be considering running, but in 2020? Perhaps as a trial balloon.

I'm not really sure why some people have such a beef with Booker. I mean, he's gotten kind of cozy with the establishment, but I'd still listen to what he has to say for himself before flipping out.

If he's the nominee, this should be hammered into their heads.

I'm seeing it because he didn't vote on Sanders amendment.

I hope Jim Webb disappeared out of existence to be honest.

Edit: I feel like because this is the Internet, I need to clarify, as in the spotlight.

Nah, I think he just needs to calm down a bit on the metric system a bit :p

But seriously, I was being sarcastic before, while the Democrats are technically my opponent, for your own sake do not let Chafee anywhere near the DNC. He was a shit governor and made a ton of dumbass mistakes

He's become a joke where I am, especially when he ran for president. We knew he would not win and do shitty, he did shitty in his own state as governor!

"Progressives" are already posting their primary dates so we can primary them.

And my senator, Patty Murphy, was among the ones that voted against it. Washington voted overwhelmingly Bernie. Then pretty solidly Clinton. Could be fun :P

(I'm not stating my opinion either way because, for one, I haven't come up with one, and for two, I'm just enjoying all the political lynch mobs going about)

I see how that's cause for concern, but still think it's too early for me to rule out supporting Booker over one wrong call and a batch of fearmongering.

Why does everyone seem to hate Jim Webb here, I do recall people saying he's quite incompetent with the election last year but I have yet to see a reason why you guys would have such a string disdain for such a moderate democrat.

Well, I'm not a moderate for one, and for two, he was a shitty debater. Yes, the two big candidates did get more time, but he used all of the time he DID get complaining about having no time.

Booker's ties to Wall Street, and his specific defense of Bain Capital against Obama's criticisms in 2012 in particular, are either suspicious or offensive to a lot of the Sanders wing of the party. Whereas Hillary Clinton's Wall Street sympathies were largely orchestrated hit pieces based on innuendo, Booker is actually financially connected in a way that's problematic at best. He's also one of the biggest backers of school choice, vouchers particularly, in the current Democratic Party. For my part, I also don't care much for the personality he projects: He's always seemed more interested in stagecraft and public relations than policy. I may be in a distinct minority among the voting population, but I actually want a technocrat.

I was surprised at Murray's vote, in general she's been excellent. And several other of the senators who voted against this amendment also have very strong records.

Meanwhile Ted Cruz voted FOR it.

They may have had legitimate reasons for not voting it, though, but of course its devolved to "Here is how much the pharma industry has given them in PAC's, and when to primary them out" already.
