I'm sorry, but what? I have never heard any real explanation for why "Gay marriage will destroy traditional marriage". I cannot fathom any argument that could possibly justify this position. The lack of evidence is astounding, frankly. Therefore, I must assume that the only logical solution is that the argument is false.

Gay marriage will destroy straight marriage in much the same way that allowing people to practice Islam will destroy someone's faith in Christianity. Some people can't hold onto their own beliefs if they don't have the sense that everyone else agrees with them and lives like they do. People have fought wars over their need to have their faith validated by showing how much their God will support them over those other guys who don't believe what they do. It shouldn't be surprising that some people will also try to keep others from getting legal protections for similar reasons.

And that's why it will destroy marriage. It will undermine the traditional relationship between men and women. It has happened in the Netherlands. Young people are not getting married. When you go in that direction, you confuse the meaning of marriage, and then it is destroyed. The family is destroyed. That is the foundation for Western civilizations, and I tell you it will bring the destruction of this nation and many others if we go in that direction. I'm not religious (although I suppose I am, what with pascal's wager and all), and I don't feel comfortable with Gay Marriage. Of course, I think it is dangerous for governments to say "You can't get married because marriage is between a man and woman because God says so"... So, I have mixed feelings. I suppose the government shouldn't outlaw it, but I would feel a bit more comfortable if they came up with another word for it, with the exact same rights as a married straight couple. I think "marriage" is man and woman. I don't know why, maybe I'm just a blind traditionalist, but hey, traditions are good things (unless they are malicious) which is why gay people should be able to get "Larried".
