I like Trump's Secretary of Labor nominee already! :)

Hey, as long as they're eating beef tainted with swamp water and festering with E. coli and Salmonella I'm all fine with it. After all, 1) it's not my problem, and 2) Trump's gotta put all that swamp somewhere. Why not somewhere useful, like in the mouths of American beef consumers?

Hey, maybe they'll turn veggie after this!

Let's make sure we're all up to date on the Russia thing.

The Washington Post reports a couple of days ago that according to the CIA, Russian intelligence was almost certainly responsible for hacking the DNC. and as they seem to have also hacked the RNC without releasing information, this combined with other elements leads them to believe that the Russian government was not simply trying to affect the integrity of the electoral process, but was openly attempting to throw the election to Trump. Obama, in a closed-door meeting with Senate officials before the election, suggested that both parties release a joint statement protesting any interference by any foreign power in the election. Mitch McConnell states that he is not convinced of Russia's culpability in this matter, and that any public statement on the part of the White House that they are interfering will be seen as a partisan action by him. Obama is then forced to sit on the report so that he doesn't appear to be using the intelligence services to push Hillary. Trump wins.

Following the recent report (confirmed by CNN and the New York Times with their own sources), whoa buddy, does shit go down: Trump openly blasts the CIA by bringing up the WMD issues from over a decade ago, meaning that the President-Elect of the United States has attacked his own intelligence services, and defended a largely hostile foreign power in the process. It's also revealed that the FBI and the CIA have some differences in how they're interpreting the data, but that's nothing new. John McCain and Lindsey Graham find their respective cojones and join with Democrats on the Armed Services Committee to call for an investigation. An increasingly nervous Paul Ryan finds a comfortable position on the fence. Oh, and as we recently discussed, John Bolton pulls an Alex Jones and calls it a false flag by the Obama administration.

And of course, online I'm seeing calls for everything from ignoring it to finding some way to re-do the election, the first of which is ludicrous, and the second of which, while tempting, is something that I can't find a Constitutional process for.

So Russia may have successfully used illegal means to interfere with the integrity of our political process (or what there is of it), the President-Elect's own party is at loggerheads over the matter, and, oh...

Meantime, Trump picked a Secretary of State who has been trying to get sanctions dropped against Russia so that he could do a half-trillion dollar business deal there, and who was personally awarded Russia's highest civilian honor by Putin himself.

I'm sure I'm missing something important here, but that's one more Constitutional crisis we may be facing.

Oh, what the heck. Trump won. Doesn't matter if he won with Russia's help or not. He won. Now we can all sit in our rooms, think of the end, and hammer every last piece of goddamned goodness to the oblivion we deserve.

You're too optimistic, still too full of it. Relax and... I won't say enjoy, because nothing about this is enjoyable. How about you imagine yourself paralyzed, chained to the wall, jailed, completely and utterly helpless, broken? It's a struggle, but at the very least you can go with the flow better, wherever that flow will take you.

No, that's a contemptible approach. I'm going to keep fighting whether it does any good or not.

Oh yeah, if we actually get this whole thing sorted out and Russia is actually shown to have messed with our election and Trump is forced out, this could lead to either harsher sanctions or war. (And considering the US is the only country that can fight against Russia, yeah...)

Fun.

I can't imagine how anyone could see this as a bad idea.

So in addition to cuddling up to Russia, the official foreign policy of the US will be to bribe, threaten and/or cajole nations into abandoning the Paris Accords. Swell.

Then again, most Russians (wrongly) see global warming as a plus for them, so maybe this is just one more way the Trump Administration will be actively working to satisfy Moscow's every whim.

The word "maga" means "swelling" (as in boil, carbuncle, and the like) in my native Tagalog.

I'm sorry, am I being a piss-ass today?

Mildly obscure at worst. I would say pretentious, but it's your native language, so you get a pass there.

There always tends to be a swelling before the pus comes out, so it might be appropriate in a metaphorical way.
