New haven america wrote:While it did hurt, I don't think they're mainly to blame. The system, former Bernie or Bust voters, the Democratic Party's internal drama, Komy, etc... all had a hand in Trump's win.

I personally place most of my blame on the EC, it's an unneeded system that has lead to the loser of the Popular Vote (You know, the part that should matter) to win multiple times. (Trump is currently the 5th person to get away with this)

This seems like a fair assessment. I have never liked the EC, personally, and have always though it should go. The people should choose who the President is. That way your vote will actually matter.

Hence why people are protesting in such large numbers.

A racist, inept, sex criminal who ran as a joke was able to win control over the most powerful county on the planet, even though the majority of votes show that the population didn't want him in power. Anti-EC sentiment has been building for years now, and I think Trump's win is what it took to pop the top off.

Also, heads up, NSG doesn't have thread ownership.

I'm a third party voter. Trust me when I say this: Not even a lifetime supply of tacos could convince me to vote for either Hillary or Trump. I suspect I'm not the only third party voter who feels that way. I cost Hillary nothing. I cost Trump nothing. If I didn't vote for third party, I would have written in 'Batman'.

If you try to blame me, I will laugh in your face. I'm glad she lost. I got half my wish. :)

I think the Democrats and Clinton are to blame.

If Clinton wanted a better chance at becoming president, she shouldn't have gotten involved in a scandal and shouldn't have lied about it.

If the Democrats had chosen a better candidate, Trump probably wouldn't have won.

Johnson was pretty 50/50 yeah, Stein had lots of Bernie or Busters so I wouldn't say that's taking from Clinton.

Except if the electoral college is repealed (which I doubt it will be soon), it would have to go into effect the next election cycle, so 2020 if we repeal it between now and election day November 2020

People might say, "This is the worst election ever! I should vote for the lesser evil!" Then... an even shitter election comes around... that would made me wish I voted for a 3rd party with similar views to me the previous election.

Honestly... (and I hope I don't get crucified by NS for this... I'm new here so I don't know if this place has any political leaning) I voted for Trump. However, I'm an Asian female... Why would I vote for someone who says all these sexist things? I would rather vote for someone who simply says sexist things than someone who defends rapists... and didn't divorce her husband for probably being a rapist. Why would I vote for someone who says all these ____ things? My answer would be similar to the previous one. I am more scared of someone who bites than barks. Why didn't I vote third party then? I'm a conservative. No one in the third party reflects my views at all... and I don't want to fund them either. If I DID find myself having a lot of similar views as the third party... I would vote them every single time... just in case a particularly shitty election happens in the future.

You do know Trump has sexually assaulted and harassed multiple women for years now, right? We have the tapes to prove it.

I don't see how 3rd party voters can be blamed AT ALL. We didn't vote for Trump, and Clinton wasn't automatically entitled to our votes.

Some are more responsible than others. Jill Stein's voters, even if they had all voted for Clinton, would not have swung any states.

You can blame Clinton for being a compromised candidate with high unfavorables, and the DNC for pre-emptively deciding on her as the nominee. But in the final analysis, the mount of people who voted for Trump is about the same as Romney in 2012. However, Clinton got five million fewer votes than Obama did. These people, who couldn't be arsed to hold their noses and vote, particularly in the swing states, also bear responsibility.

Exactly. Nobody is entitled to any vote. You have to earn our votes. And if you fail to earn our votes than you are to blame.

Yes. if they had the common sense to realize the stakes of this election, and that this isn't the right time to be making a protest vote, then maybe we'd actually be celebrating the triumph of a decent president over trump.

However, Hillary never apologized for laughing about the rape cases she was dealing with (there are recordings of her also)... I would have voted for her (even though I have opposed views to democrats) if she had divorced her husband and proved that 1) she doesn't need a man to be strong and independent enough to be president 2) she cares more about the people rather than power/ money/ and her image. I really wanted to like her. However, if I was her, I would've divorced my husband and actually tried to help provide evidence to put my husband in jail.
