I agree.

The problem with people's displeasure is that we want the same country to think the way we do. Every state is different with different needs but people seem to be in the mindset that everything needs to be national or nothing. If we gave the states back a little more autonomy perhaps things would get better. NYC's gun control just won't work in rural Wyoming and people need to accept it.

That's why the US should be balkanized into more manageable segments for governments to utilize with no central bureaucracy on the East Coast in DC. What is needed in the Rust Belt won't work in the Northeast. What works in Kansas won't do in South Central LA.

I'm a Californian by birth, Ohioan by chance, and I reject this.

Welp, now Californians can't mock us Texans for having Perry the secessionist twat.

Following this post (yes, I'm plugging my own forum post in another forum post, how horrifying), Californians declare an intent to to secede from the United States to become its own independent nation after the election of Donald Trump.

What are your thoughts on the possibility of most (or all of the US West Coast) seceding from the US and becoming it's own sovereign power?

NationStates is bleeding into real life, guys.

They won't and they can't. If Clinton had won, the people in Texas would say the same thing.

This. It's not going to happen people will be pissed but that was going to happen either way. The vast majority doesn't want to leave. Though if they did I'd consider moving.

Actually, I'm pretty sure that unlike Texas, California retained the right to secede. Still really stupid though; the legality isn't exactly the point.
I'm tired of the fight. What we need is pragmatic solutions, not party politics.

Well after receiving 11.5 million immigration applications (a.k.a. about one third of the current total Canadian population) it doesn't surprise me.
