You are an idiot.

Conneticut is well known for its economic independence from the States.
Where must we go, we who wander this wasteland, in search for our better selves?
In Egypt's sandy silence, all alone,
Stands a gigantic Leg, which far off throws
The only shadow that the Desert knows:—
"I am great OZYMANDIAS," saith the stone,
"The King of Kings; this mighty City shows
"The wonders of my hand." The City's gone,
Nought but the Leg remaining to disclose
The site of this forgotten Babylon.

We wonder, and some Hunter may express
Wonder like ours, when thro' the wilderness
Where London stood, holding the Wolf in chace,
He meets some fragment huge, and stops to guess
What powerful but unrecorded race
Once dwelt in that annihilated place.

You've based this off of one speech, in which there is a veritable tradition of saying this exact phrase. Meanwhile the campaign was the most divisive in recent history, and that was in no small due to Trump's behaviour. Trump has everything to gain by saying this, and loses nothing by doing so. It has no effect on whether he will follow through.

At this stage, there is abolsutley no convincing case to assert that it is indeed different. At best, it is rhetoric without substantiation.

But there is the other parts of the GOP that hate trump and refuse to work him. Plus, he seemed genuine.

There literally is no major wing that will do this. Trump just got them back into power, and got himself a big mandate. He's implement their policies, and they'll implement his (besides, neither is very dissimilar).

Plus, he seemed genuine.

You're basing this off one comment in one speech, and appearances. Its a politician's job to seem genuine - how do you think he appears to most of his supporters? There is currently no practical change from this 'feeling', and a long history detailing that it is unlikely to occur, in light his past form (which has not been atypical to his general bearing up to now). There is no substantive reason to take him at his word as of yet, and plenty of cause for scepticism.

Look, at the risk of an assumption, I am going to posit that you want this to be true, which is why you've latched onto this 'sign'. Which I get, but it doesn't make it true.

Unless there's a recession, the incumbent always wins. Trump has to hope he doesn't get an economic slowdown.

There are entirely different notions of democracy at play (there is no one notion of what can be considered 'democratic') - and the majority of votes did not go to Clinton, a plurality did.

He won in the current system. If you don't like the system, campaign for its alteration, but I highly doubt you would be eager to point this flaw out if the positions were reversed.

I agree, but you've shown the biggest problem with the United States political system in the recent decades. Nobody wants to talk anymore. Both sides have been taking a "my way or the highway" sort of approach to issues, blocking any attempt at finding a compromise. This is why the person who's loud, brash, and somewhat annoying got elected. Finding comprise is a dead art, and this is becoming the era of yelling louder than your opponents.
