What I wonder is why the news sometimes calls a state when only 1% of the vote is in. I mean, with some states it's pretty likely that a certain candidate will win, but 1 or 2% is still pretty early.

So at best, Hillary gets whateverblocked in the textbook definition of a Third Obama Term and at worst we'll have internment-slash-conversion camps for Muslims, Mexicans, LGBTs and feminists.

Crimes committed by Muslims will be a pan-Islamic plot and proof of Islam's inherent evil. On the other hand crimes committed by non-Muslims will merely be the acts of loners who do not represent their belief system at all.
The probability of one's participation in homosexual acts is directly proportional to one's public disdain and disgust for homosexuals.
If a political figure makes an accusation of wrongdoing without evidence, odds are probable that the accuser or an associate thereof has in fact committed the very same act, possibly to a worse degree.

Its not even pretty likely tbh. Its a given, and basically a formality to wait for 'some' votes before calling it.

From the BBC page on Iowa:
"State Popular Vote
Democratic since 1988, except for a Republican interlude in 2004. Obama won by 10 points in 2008, but his margin fell to 5.6 points in 2012."

Bolded mine. Is it normal to use "Democratic" as a demonym for the Democrat party? It feels like a typo to me, since I've always just used "Democrat" as the demonym.

It's mostly the rural western counties that've finished up. Once the cities start really getting in, I expect it to go blue.

It may not go Blue this time, but the GOP will be out of the picture within the next decade or two down there if they don't change their national message.

It's the proper way. 'Democrat' is grammatically incorrect.
