It would be a genius move and would reassure millions.

Yea. Garland is the type of fellow who doesn't cause much trouble.

He's no Sonia Sotomayor, but he ain't a Scalia either. He's somewhere in the middle.

He doesn't have to now. He's in office, he can basically do what he wants. The worst that can happen to him is he disagrees with his party and that jams everything. He could do what you described, but again, I don't think he cares enough about that issue. He only really brought it up in the first place because he was asked, and even then he gave mainly no-answers. I don't see him doing very much at least in this issue. I don't know about most anything else.

So if Republicans in Congress get some anti-abortion or anti-LGBT amendments into the Build The Wall Act 2017, will Trump refuse to sign?

This time though I think it will be a hugely publicized event, and it might divide the country more, or unite it.

Not sure.

All of our leaders have called for a peaceful transition of power, and people are still fighting out in the streets over this. I hope this is just temporary and not a sign of more to come.

You may have a lot of new enemies. I'm not one of them.

I respect Trump supporters. I just hope you guys don't get too disappointed.

I was just thinking not too long ago, and I cannot shake the feeling, and I hope I am wrong, that Trump might end up in the middle of a assassination attempt either from someone in the far left, or the far right.

Again, I hope I am wrong, but I don't put it past. He's won a divisive election, and further, I know he won't keep many of his promises on the campaign trail, so the right will be justifiably pissed, while Pence is a relative nobody who conforms better to the right's agenda.

They're mostly the die-hard liberals at my school, but that's it really. Barely any here.

Anyways, I dont think I'm going to be disappointed. If I am, well, then I dont know what. I know who I am politically now, I just hope that Trump can deliver on his promises.

That's odd. I've had no shortage of people hate me for voting for trump. I had one of my residents (I am an RA on a college campus) tell me I am the reason this country will go to hell, and that he has lost all respect he had for me ... "oh, no wait, I never had any respect for you". I had someone deface the bulletin board I made (about thanksgiving, Diwali, all saints day, and international tolerance day) with "you racist trumper fuck" in sharpie, and certainly seen no shortage of vitriolic comments thrown around on Facebook.

And this is in Pennsylvania, and not even in one of the especially liberal parts (e.g. Philly or Pittsburgh). I should expect its this way on most university campuses. Hate goes both ways unfortunately.

It really depends on what Trump does. He can calm the waters or pour oil on them and spark up Hell. Sounds rather evangelical. OMIGOD.

So far he's on the right path, but it's only been 2 days. Still, it's a start. Nominating Garland would do wonders.

A regionmate who voted Libertarian and openly endorsed Gary Johnson had to receive protection by campus security because there were so many threats coming his direction.

Also, reading the posts by minorities reporting discrimination by Trump supporters... dear God.
