Didn't say it was wrong, just edgy.

Not that but the last sentence. That runs close to Social Darwinism.

The only thing that ever has or ever will induce people to perform or avoid certain actions is the threat of pure brute force.

Yeah, I've noticed. It's a lot easier for the opposition just to label you as edgy rather than refuting your point, I guess.

Using an idea to express an objective thing is not a spook.

True in some cases but not all cases. If anything:

"Men ought either to be indulged or utterly destroyed, for if you merely offend them they take vengeance, but if you injure them greatly they are unable to retaliate, so that the injury done to a man ought to be such that vengeance cannot be feared."
- Niccolo Machiavelli.

Yeah, last time I was with my friends, I offered them recompense in exchange for avoiding a certain venue and attending one of my choosing for the evening meal. I was really doing a brute force there, I was.

Yeah, that's... not how things work.

I mean, there's quite literally psychologists and other professionals who have based their careers off of figuring out what motivates people, and the fear of punishment is hardly the gist of their findings.

That's getting into the bounds of metaphysics, a place where I do not wish to drag in spooks for it's gets really weird and complicated.

Regardless objective things like science are not spooks. Deciding not to hurt yourself or others is not a spooky concept for it causes objective harm.

It's an arbitrary distinction. "The things I like are objectively real, the things other people use are not."

But seriously, all metaphysics amounts to is: "I think this would be great if it was real, therefore it must somehow be real".

Metaphysics gets us into the whole rabbit hole of if even what our eyes see is real and if what our ears hear is real.

Either way, metaphysics, solipsism, all that yields nothing useful. It's interesting to ponder it alone, but in an argument it's completely worthless and a total dead end.
