A lot of news organizations are focusing on the possibility of Comey committing a felony than anything else.

Who sets up a whole server solely for their bank to send him notices, and then encrypts it so basically no one else can send anything to it except a few things seemingly forged to throw off the scent? And why would that Trump-side server go dark immediately after someone asks the Russian bank about communicating with Trump? The trail's too dirty for that.

did you mention the part where as soon as the author started asking the bank questions the servers were renamed and the traffic remained the same?

in any case it is too far out of my experience for me to judge it. the article suggested some "innocent" possible explanations. they didn't convince me even though i didn't really understand them.

Can someone summarize that article for someone like me who is cyber-illiterate?

it is so far out of my experience that I don't know what to make of it.

i assume that trump has money ties to the bank and that the bank is smart enough to do daily checks to make sure trump is going to pay on time--unlike deutsche bank that had to sue trump just to get him to pay the interest on the huge loan they gave him.

Yea, but the Alfa bank has denied to have any connection to Trump, which usually means not having any money of his on Alfa.

Which means one of the two: there's someone from Trump's colleagues working at the bank in a high exec. position, or, more nefariously, there is a server on the Alfa network that is being used as a proxy for the Russians.

I'd say that they will hurt Trump more than Clinton. Her support might grow especially among minority voters, who will view the FBI as police overreach and feel sympathy for Clinton.

After fully reading that article, I highly doubt there was anything real between them. If Putin and Trump were communicating via Alfa Bank, I think Trump would have been smart enough to establish a proxy through which to do it and would not have named it Trump-Mail. He's dumb, but he ain't that dumb.

Not really. I just don't think there's enough evidence of communication so suggest that Trump is collaborating with Russia. It may be communications between Alfa bank and Trump, but does that communication actually lead one to believe that there is a conspiracy to rig or influence our election? I don't know.

Well, many high profile people do seek maximum security in their transactions because they do banking in the realm of millions of dollars, and with the advent of the latest Philippine hack of one major banking system security experts are fine in doing this encryption and blocking of outside sources.

Now, your problem is the forging. Nobody does that shit who is a professional IT security professional. Most of us are deterred from using "security through obscurity" because it's not good security if you have to hide your shit so they can't hack you. Most hackers already know that if you hide a device is because that device is important and probably less secure than your other devices, and so they attack it more.

So it has to be someone really committed to Trump but not so committed as to hire people who make amateur mistakes. Also the Trump-side server going dark is actually concerning. You don't close house on a server when you're found out what's one of your affiliates' locations.

I mean, the main issue is that there is a trail of pings that can resembles human communication between two or more clients using their servers as exit DNS channels.

Alfa bank denying the relationship when it came out of their servers puts red flags for me.

Well he didn't have a warrant to look at those emails. So he either has no clue what's inside them or he committed a felony and looked inside without a warrant and didn't want anyone to know that.
