My problems are the first worldiest, I know.
I live in a nation that allows someone with no legs to not only own a home, but have transportation provided on safe roads to a job where I'm allowed to not only succeed, but excel. I have fresh, healthy, food within rolling distance from my home, despite living in an area that is sparsely populated. I'm allowed to be an Animist without facing constant pressure to convert to the mainstream, I'm allowed to be irascible without constantly facing pressure to be more sociable in person.
And here I am worrying about the size of a small book that allows me legal access to consular services worldwide.
I mean, if I wasn't posting on a website that allows me global communication with all sorts of smartasses who come from different worldviews and backgrounds, I don't know how I'd ever understand my own privileges.

I have to say though, you're not the only one who has had to use driving instructors.
People do it commonly when they don't want to deal with teaching someone else, or having someone else teach them. It lifts off everyone's worries because now you're going to someone whose job is to teach you, and not to someone who has to pick up the job to teach you how to drive.

Hey! I am not having a different worldview and background!
You are!

When did you say you where going to Japan? Because a 7.3 earthquake just hit right off Japan, near the Fukushima.

Isnt order of operations say do multiply/divide first? so 7*2-5=(7*2)-5

Why? I already? know how to type into a command prompt, it's fine.Soldati Senza Confini wrote:Before you give up because "it is so boring":Auremena wrote:This python app so far is basically "can you do 2nd grade math?"

The reason why they make you do those things is because they want you to get used to the language.
They know you can do maths, but can you make a program in Python that actually does the same thing.

I'm not a 3rd grader, and if I taught anything above elementary school, I'd expect my students to not need additional clarification...The Emerald Dawn wrote:PEMDAS/BEDMAS are rules taught to your average student, yes.Auremena wrote:Isnt order of operations say do multiply/divide first? so 7*2-5=(7*2)-5
However in order to maintain clarity of meaning, it is best to include the P part of PEMDAS when you're communicating maths to people.
Otherwise when they make an error, the result is on you for poor instruction.

Convenience isn't necessary for simple operations. What I'm trying to say if the examples they should use should be on par with the people who are likely to use this app, late high school students and above, and those still in high school who want to learn to code likely have a decent grasp on intermediate mathematics already.Soldati Senza Confini wrote:Because the point is whether or not you can do it. Obviously you can ditch your computer and never touch a computer in your life and use paper ledgers and other old-fashioned methods of doing business for the rest of your life. Obviously you can do mathematics without a calculator, hell, even without paper, just count with your fingers or memorize a few tables.Auremena wrote:Why? The point is that the computer makes things more convenient. They're trying to teach you how to program, not how to do maths.

You clearly haven't taught above Primary.
Which is what informs my irritation when I see people miss things like that, because I have taught above Primary.
I've taught Junior and Senior cycle, First through Third form, and I absolutely detest humanity as a result.
