Ryan is only doing what is necessary to stay popular.

Ryan is showing a gutless lack of integrity. After waffling, he reluctantly endorsed Trump. Now that the backlash is growing against Trump, far too little too late, he tries to stop supporting his campaign without actually retracting his endorsement.

He's been trying to have his cake and eat it too throughout this campaign.

The GOP is a harsh and unforgiving mistress.

New Jersey is safely Democrat in Presidential elections, and have been since Bill Clinton, except for a slight scare in 2004 for Kerry. Trump's claim that he can win in NJ are just as dubious as his claims about New York, Connecticut, California, Oregon, and Washington.

Neither of New Jersey's Senators, rising star Cory Booker and crook Bob Menendez, are up for reelection in 2016, but we do have an interesting House race in the 5th district, where Tea Party incumbent Scott Garrett is under fire from a surprisingly strong Democrat for his blatant homophobia, voting against Sandy aide, and various other far-right positions that might make sense in Alabama, but certainly not New Jersey. The House Majority PAC has a great ad attacking Garrett.

I live in the 12th district, which is safe for Bonnie Watson Coleman, the Democrat. However, I am interning for Peter Jacob, who is running in the 7th district, and he is doing surprisingly well. Leonard Lance, the Republican, still has the advantage, but I could see Jacob winning if Hillary continues to rise in the polls.

I live in the 3rd district and I don't expect Tom MacArthur to lose. Also, ain't Scott Garrett in the Freedom Caucus or something?

Yes he is. He really is horrible, and one has to wonder what he is doing north of the Mason-Dixon Line.

It's a party of people wandering around near a cliff in the fog at midnight. The difference between the two groups is the old "normal" GOP are standing still after hearing the others going over and into the abyss. It scares them. So they've stopped wandering for now and just stand still. But "still" in a fog in the darkness of night near a cliff without a compass.
