I'm not a fundamentalist. I'm rather secular. But this thread is a Popish circle-jerk where people pat each other on the back based on more "traditional" their church is, all while basking in the benefits brought on to them by the blood and sweat of Calvinists who created the modern world.

Not that we're ever going to agree on this, of course, but I just wanted to make our stance clear for our new misguided Protestant friend.

Yes, the Catholic Church was before the Orthodox Church, but the Orthodox Church is arguably closer to what the Catholic Church was at the time of schism.

As admitted by the Vatican itself, the beliefs currently held by the Orthodox Church are those that have always been held by the Eastern part of Chalcedonian Christianity.

The Catholic Church was formed by the Patriarchate of the West breaking away from the rest of the Orthodox Church - for a number of reasons, but mainly due to its desire to make the Bishop of Rome supreme over all other bishops.

And where do I start? Besides the Jesuits fostering communist revolutions in El Salvador

and fighting secularism in America tooth and nail so that they could have their precious "parish schools"

Also, the Catholic Church is one of the biggest sponsors of mass immigration and refugee resettlement.

Maybe so. But the Calvinist spirit of the most radical elements of English society manifested themselves in the United States (and to lesser extents in the wider British Empire and the Netherlands), allowing it to become the great rival to the Old World Catholic despots and create a superior society.

But maybe it's not fair to say just Calvinist, but rather Protestant (mainline that is) in general. Anglo Anglicans/Episcopalians and German and Nordic Lutherans produced similar results.
