Of course not, their contempt for humanity is what enables them to take advantage of people for money. They're not men of God, they're wolf in sheeps clothing.

They look like wolves to me. Which I now realise is because they've been wearing that disguise so long and so carelessly that all they've done is ruin the credibility of sheep in my eyes. I know what a wolf looks like. It's fluffy and bleating.

If it's any consolation, I still call Istanbul "Constantinople."

Istanbul derives from Stimboli, which itself is from He Polis/ I Poli (The City) which is what Greeks often shortened the name to.

If Arch were here, there would be a lot of fretting.

The motivations behind the First Crusade were far more complex than that.

The first crusade was a mix of spiritual and religious reasons, since feudalism showed the first signs of crises, Islam spread throughout Europe and also showed that God was angry because they passed the thousand year and that something had to be done. On the one hand it was terrible because it only made the Byzantine Empire destroyed, but it was one of the essential factors for colonization in America.

Você disse que a América foi colonizada por o declínio de Constantinopla.

Hence the confusion. My Portuguese is not the best, not that my Spanish is any better. :lol2:

Any particular event this is referencing? I can't find anything too notable just searching for news about his all-holiness.

I have to doubt the source, since the only article I have seen about this from the Moscow Patriarchate noted that the Bishop who organized the "synaxis" is not exactly friends with his holiness, Patriarch Kirill.

Possibly, but it does seem to fit the narrative doesn't it? The Greek Church and the EP are much more chummy with the Romans than the rest of the EO, and it's feathers in Moscow.

Eh, not really, the Greek Church doesn't really like the EP lately too, mainly because the EP tried to force the Greek Church to defrock a bishop, and the Greek Church basically ignored him.

The Ecumenical Patriarch has frankly tried a lot of people's patience, and I think he's overplaying his position. And, if anything, Moscow is probably one of the more moderate anti-ecumenist patriarchates. You should see what the Georgians have to say about the Pope, or, as they call him, "the Archheretic".

The Santo Papa's speech in Egypt.

All of us have the duty to teach coming generations that God, the Creator of heaven and earth, does not need to be protected by men; indeed, it is he who protects them. He never desires the death of his children, but rather their life and happiness. He can neither demand nor justify violence; indeed, he detests and rejects violence ("God... hates the lover of violence”: Ps 11:5). The true God calls to unconditional love, gratuitous pardon, mercy, absolute respect for every life, and fraternity among his children, believers and nonbelievers alike.

It is our duty to proclaim together that history does not forgive those who preach justice, but then practice injustice. History does not forgive those who talk about equality, but then discard those who are different. It is our duty to unmask the peddlers of illusions about the afterlife, those who preach hatred in order to rob the simple of their present life and their right to live with dignity, and who exploit others by taking away their ability to choose freely and to believe responsibly. It is our duty to dismantle deadly ideas and extremist ideologies, while upholding the incompatibility of true faith and violence, of God and acts of murder.

Interesting conversation when trying to tell my JW friend about the Eucharist:
Me:"Jesus says that the berad is his body"
Friend:"Show me in the bible where he says that."
*Pulls up the NASB, and the KJV, while he pulls up the JW's NWT*
Friend:"Let's see...it's in Matthew 26...*reading* Jesus took the bread, broke it, gave it to his disciples saying 'Take and eat for this means my body.' See?"
Me*reading from KJV and then from the NASB*:"Jesus took the bread, broke it, and gave it to his disciples saying 'Take this, all of you and eat of it, for this is my body, which will be given up for you.'"
Friend: "So, you're saying that Jesus condones cannabilism, which the Bible condemns?"
Me:"No, because he didn't tell us that it was okay to eat a random person on the side of the street."
Friend:"Sounds like it to me, which is why you and your 'Church' is wrong."
*sigh* It's Infidels like him that make me wish we had the 10th Crusade already...
