The first four points are true. While it may be impossible to attack any given human cannonball ride, it may be possible to use the human cannonball as a terrorist attack in itself. As for 5, you run the risk of being vaporized inside the cannon, pulverized when you hit the ground or hitting something like a bird would be like falling on rock from a 100 meter drop and no helmet could protect you. It does seem very awesome though, if you could get it to work safely.

Honestly I rather just stick with my bike thank you very much. I refuse to learn to drive a car for pete's sake let alone something as crazy as this. That hyperloop thing on the otherhand... looks interesting quite honestly. I hate heights so I wouldn't use it but since it reminds me of bioshock it does have a nice charm to it.

Thank you.

But I don't think an air powered cannon can vaporise someone.

As for number 5, in 2008, 2,628 people died from car crashes in Canada alone.
Its hard to see it being worse.

No, it would be a point to point system.

Oh sorry I completely miscalculated because I was going based on seperating it into grid of 1x1km.
Lets go by people needing to get there which works for point to point system too. Say cannon-net-off takes 1 minute. 615k people commute to city every day; so 1,845,000 mins. No one wants to wait around for more than 3 hours to get to work so you'd need 3400 cannons to get everyone there in 3 hours. Since no two cannons can point to same net, you need 3400 nets around central london.

I love it but I'm not sure humans could handle the g-forces sustained by being launched out of a cannon.

Also, it's not terror proof. Terrorists could plant bombs in there, rather than people, and boom, terror artillery.

Also, that be a nightmare for air traffic controllers.

I like it! In fact, I think this isn't going far enough. For international travel, they need to be upgraded to HADRON collider status, so you can get there within seconds. Well, parts of you anyway.
Okay so apparently these days it's hot and happening to show your gender.

Oh, by the way: gender and sex are the same thing. They are part of a binary system.

It has an area of ~2 sq km.

Not really, radar only picks up metal objects traveling at a certain speed or altitude.

Plus, they are talking about switching to gps for all planes.

We already have weight scale calibration, so, just make it so that it won't fire until a certain weight has been put on the scale.

I did this in my NS nation and most people thought it was a good idea.

The idea is:

Big air powered cannons that will blast you from place to place via cannons and safety nets. Safety nets get replaced daily.

What do you guys think about this actually being a real world?

Oh boy a 60s throwback.

It is a fantastic idea except for one thing.
Real people are not as resilient as video game characters.
Professional stuntmen do that sort of thing for a living IRL, and the wear and tear is considerable.
A+ for out of the box thinking though. :)

Yeah but it would be fun and awesome.

This is wrong on so many levels.

First, firing with a non-hurting force would fire a person for a few meters at best, which means we would need hundreds of cannons to cover a mile.

Second, it would be incredibly inefficient, as 1 cannon can only take 1 human, while a car can take 5 and a bus can take 50.

Third, getting yourself prepared for the launch would take over a minute.

Fourth, it's hard to get off a net soft enough without constantly falling over on it.

Fifth, terrorists can attack cannons, can't they?

So we would end up with expensive, slow (ca. 0.1 mph of average speed) system. Anything is better.
Capitalism, single-payer healthcare, pro-choice, LGBT rights, progressive personal taxation, low corporate tax, pro-business law, welfare for those in need.
Nazism, edgism, dogmatic statements, most of Abrahamic-derived morality (esp. as law), welfare for those not in need.

They can shut down one cannon but not the rider.

It wouldn't be slow. 40 seconds to go say 400-500m.

Not really.

Not really.

As far as security goes, arm the rider with grenades to drop onto oncoming attackers in transit.
And for my part, speed is secondary as to how interesting the ride is.
And having grenades would make the ride very, very interesting.
