Unfortunately, this is likely going to resonate with his supporters. Many consrvative folks pretty much believe we certainly should have done that when we invaded Iraq, and believe such regardless of the fact that it's pretty much a physical impossibility to do so. It's the type of rhetoric that will win him points with a subset of people.

They really cant do shit.

They can side with terrorists against us, bomb the oil fields, attack the occupiers, and in general make things very expensive for us. That and if we go in without their consent we are in essence the aggressors and would likely have the world turn on us.
