I think this wonderful. We haven't been to a new celestial body since 1969. This is a brave new step and will allow the greatest country on earth to lead once again.

I'm fairly certain people who think in terms of "white race" have trouble balancing their food stamp allotment with a calculator. Piloting an landing a spacecraft might involve a little too much math for their skill set.

1.Because spaceships and bases are fat, easy targets. No side wants to add hostility to the risks of spacefaring disasters. Of course I would never trust America to keep their word, but I trust them to be streetwise enough to know what's convenient.
2.I can also tell the difference between males and females, between AB- and O+ blood groups, between blondes and brunettes, between tall folks and short folks. So what? Those phenotypes do not tell me anything about the intelligence, the skills, the culture or the attitude of the individual. That's why using the skin colour to split humanity into groups is nonsensical.
