Terror group ISIS carried out a chemical attack on the Qayarrah air base in Iraq firing a shell pack with mustard agent.
US intelligence has identified the incendiary device as either a rocket or artillery shell after it was analysed by troops.
Although not usually lethal those exposed to such a chemical attack suffer debilitating blisters to the skin and can remain permanently disfigured as a result of chemical burns.
The gas can also leave people permanently blind while others develop chronic respiratory diseases or infections, which can be fatal.
Is this a new standard? Will this potentially mean chemical attacks on civilian targets in the future?
It could make 9/11 look like peanuts.
