If ISIS claimed one attack wouldn't they claim the rest?

Bombing, no. Going to a crowded place and just shooting random people, on the other hand...
The vast majority of random acts of violence against innocent bystanders in the US are mass shootings by Christian or non-religious white men.
Which is why I don't understand why people get so worked up about Islamic terrorist bombs, when a majority of Americans seems to be perfectly okay with doing absolutely nothing about the much more common mass shootings by non-Muslims.

"Don't politicize the tragedy, it's an insult to the victims", etc. etc. etc.

Mass shootings by 99% of people are more common than mass shootings by 1% of people? Whoa, I never would have seen that coming.Constantinopolis wrote:If a white guy spraying bullets into a crowd because he's insane is just a senseless tragedy that should be mourned for a while and then ignored, why aren't Muslims who detonate bombs in public places regarded the same way? Probably because white guys are not all followers of the same ancient holybook which commands them to slaughter everyone who isn't a white guy and doesn't pay jizya to the white guys, and are not shooting people in the name of an ideology promoted by said holybook.

So why do the overwhelming majority of people who follow said holy book and its ideologies not commit acts of murder in its name?

Sane Outcasts wrote:Officials are implying a connection to a larger terrorist organization when they use the term "terror cell", which is making me wonder what they've learned that hasn't been shared with the public yet.
Even with more explosives found in the area, there are still no fatalities or serious injuries and out of two pressure cooker bombs and now seven pipe bombs, only one of each actually detonated. Of the successful detonations, one was made less effective by placement near a dumpster and another was foiled by dumb luck when the race was delayed. This all suggests a group of people working together to place multiple devices, but very little actual experience making or using bombs to kill.
If the people responsible are part of a larger group, they received poor training or no training at all in their chosen method of attacking, so maybe the connection the authorities are implying is just one to a known recruiter or radical figure.

How can you accuse me of evil? Though these deeds be unsavory, no one will argue: good shall follow from them.
The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing

You both realise the response to this will be "yes, but if you ban all immigrants, then there's no problem"?
