Not just no, fuck no. I heard about this plan via the WSJ. It makes Trump's ideas seem realistic by comparison.

I've always heard it as MMT implies chartalism, but chartalism does not imply MMT.

By neo-chartalism, I thought you meant the modern resurrection of the idea rather than the classical. Which is why I thought of MMT.

Edit: incase I wasn't clear, MMT is really dumb. It misses for the forest for the trees.

Neochartalism I always heard talked about in the same vein as Neokeynesianism - as a refinement of original ideas with the development of economic thought rather than any sort of radical change in the base form of the idea. Neochartalism discards such silly ideas as that the money supply is determined by central issuing authorities. It's more... nuanced.

Again, as I always heard it. Could be completely wrong; not my main area of expertise. I know just enough to make fun of Austrians.

You aren't really far right at all. More in line with traditionalist right wing.

I think that's more hypocrisy than him making a point.

Although he's been a voice of reason before.

Or at least, reasonable compared to others.

There I must disagree with you. I read it as something else entirely. If we think of Keynes as the medium tier, I am of the opinion that it goes too far in the opposite direction. I've read papers that imply something to the effect that if the government doesn't have debt, it punishes savers. As well by implication, I've read that they think it's acceptable to pay debt with printed money and that there will be no consquences. Effectively, I got the impression that they think inflation and money supply are not tied together. Instead that is set by the government. I could be misunderstanding the idea as well. I've not read much on it outside my textbook laughing at it and calling it wrong. This is admittedly a failure on my part.

Edit: I've used Google and realized I agreed with Paul Krugman on this. Brb time to kill myself.

While real anarchists had founders such as Stirner, Proudhon, and Bakunin with unique philosophies and an ethos for action, anarcho-capitalism was founded by some boring little men in business suits who contributed nothing original and just regurgitated tired old capitalist lines. One musters real rallies and propaganda of the deed, while the other is mainly defended on the web by hipsters.

One is an actual ideology, the other is just a joke on the internet.
