You can only flood monopoly money so many times before people catch on. It's a real sword of damocles. If the money in the realm of retirements and investments leak into the real world, all I can say is I hope you enjoy 1920s Germany.

That is not the real concern to me so much as the creation of market distortions. While I might like that the government is effectively rigging the market, I know that the party will end someday and it's better if we ween off now than later.

I'd classify it as the "oh fuck if we cost these people their life savings they are gonna be really really really pissed" school of economics. Mugabe was a skrub at market rigging. I'd like to think we are a bit more advanced than that.
